Does anyone know of a website or book that describes in detail the character and costs of different Madrid neighborhoods? I know anecdotally from here that certain neighborhoods will cost more (Salamanca more than Lavapies), but it would be good to know what is not worth looking at because it is crazy expensive. For example, to know that as I am walking around Almagro or Recoletos, it is like the West Village in NYC-ie: Nicole Kidman and Sarah Jessica Parker have flats there and I cannot compete with their buying/renting power and should look elsewhere! cry

Okay, I just found a bunch of links that I think you'll like, at least I hope so, anyway here goes, and I hope your Spanish reading is up to scratch, cos a lot of it is in Spanish, not all, but I guess you'll be able to figure it out to one extent or another, & some of the sites have a language button somewhere at the top as well, but I personally feel that, if someone is serious enough about living in a place like Madrid/Spain, they will have to start reading & understanding the language from day one.

Anyway, here are the links.......

I think after having thoroughly flicked through this lot, that there is via the various other "hyperlinks" a lot of very useful info available in there, mostly about Madrid and all it's various barrio's & Zonas, and many different types of accommodation, with prices/styles/characters etc to suit all pockets & tastes.

As I say, I hope that they will be of use to you, and that you will be able to get a much clearer picture of what is really out there.

Buena suerte/good luck

Saludos.......Santiago

I'm glad that I have been of service, Candy, it's nice and rewarding to hear when someone finds something of use & perhaps even value withing the various links, which are posted as a result of a little moon light surfing on the www.

I sincerely hope that whatever it is you found in there, will bring you good fortune and prosperity. I will be glad to do a little late night googeling for you (work & health permiting), so if you need me to do some searching for something, let me know and I'll see what I can find.

Buena suerte,
Saludos.......Santiago

cheers shwendy, any time, it's a pleasure to be able to help, and it's something that I particularly enjoy doing, searching for useful stuff on the web, it's very absorbing, and helps to take my mind off of my back pains at night, and so is a good therapy too.

If you're ever in need of finding something on the web, just post it up on the board, and we'll find it for you.

Cheers....... brews
