very confused - - It's all very odd, the posts from the 2 Gata's - - Maybe there's a gremlin inside the BB software!  I've also had some Search function problems with the site, that I'd be happy to describe to you offline, in case you need to communicate with your BB software tech support people. Hey liberty, not odd at all. I already explained that GataUSA78 had problems (a local computer problem, nothing wrong with the board, the prob. was on her end) posting under "GataUSA" so she re-registered as "GataUSA78" to see if it would work better. As I said, I was testing her logins so posted as if I were her. While I had probs. with the search function in the past, it was fixed long ago. Jeremy is the telephone expert and can answer the question of why telephone calls cost so much in Spain better than I can. I am only trying to explain clearly what it is each one of the accommodation finding people do in Madrid including Madrid Insider. I am not trying to promote Madrid Insider as much as deflate all of the others and inform people as how to do it themselves before paying for help. I do not actually do the accommodation finding myself. Another bilingual Spanish person does it and makes all of the money not me. I only back them up and send people out on viewings for the few places that landlords entrust me to fill up for them when it suits them. There was already one too many websites doing this when I started and now there are even more. Especially the bad ones like Madrid Flatmate's John Salas Valle who copies every twist and turn that I make to shake off all of the bad business ideas and find the one good one that works. Rocco.

Rocco, I think madsue was asking you why you said that phone calls cost more in "MADRID", now you changed that to SPAIN in general. madsue, I now realize that Rocco was referring to the expense of using the phone in Spain as compared to the USA where it is much cheaper. The phone in Spain in general is much more expensive as it is in USA and will be especially expensive since most newcomers will make those housing search calls from their cellphones here. Rocco, it is the same thing, 6 of one half dozen of the other. Yes Rocco, you provide a good service as do others, I am sure if one of the others popped in here, they would have something to say as well. I will say one thing in Rocco's favor, he personally does not make any money on the housing, his assistant gets the entire 50� fee. He simply provides the link-up with his assistant at no charge as an added service on his website. Saludos, jer...

I have a real estate question... My grandmother and I are going to Madrid on Christmas Eve for our winter vacation. We'd like to find an apartment to buy while we're there- preferably something in north Madrid, near Barrio del Pilar. We want to find a realtor there as soon as possible- any tips, besides the ones already here? Thanks  !

hey Everlong, just walk around the streets of madrid, you will see TONS of real estate agencies. go to the neighborhood you are interested in and you will see plenty of small and large agencies that specialize in that area. register (give your info and what you are looking for) with them and you will have no problems getting offers and seeing apts. you can also do a websearch at google for "inmobiliarias madrid", tons of results. there are a lot of online resources like www.idealista.com . here are just a few of the bigger real estate agencies in spain... � www.alfainmo.com � www.fincascorral.com� www.tecnocasa.esi dabble a bit in the market with a spanish friend who works for alfa here in madrid so let me know if you want me to put you in contact with him. if you speak spanish, great, if not, i can come along as your interpreter. basically, i just serve as interpreter at meetings and during showings of apts./houses and the real estate agency pays me so it is no more or less expensive to do it through me. saludos, jer...
