Hey guys Just now I got an e-mail from my landlord unfortunately he's informing me, his daughter is starting to work in Madrid and he needs my apartment. I'm posting this as I need your help, in case one of you knows any inexpensive apartment in the center for rent.
Thanks Nava

As long as you are looking, take a look at www.idealista.com and on that site you can put in your price range that you are looking for and where you want to live.
Good luck,

i just emailed this to nava but thought i should post it too. her landlord has no right to do this as she has a signed contract til 2009. even w/o a contract, a landlord by law, cannot make a tenant leave without legal action.
if she wants to pursue it, a good place to start is on calle cruz, near sol, number 18. this is the support office of vivienda (housing) and they are very, very helpful. bring your contract. they are open mon. to fri. from 10 to 8pm. they offer legal advice and support.
good luck!

generally speaking most people go for a room share to get reasonable rent. From postings I've seen you looking at around a 1000 a month give or take a bit. Utilities are pretty reasonable.

Thank you so much Candy I guess that's why my landlord wrote he needs the apart for his daughter, from what I've heard personal need is the reason he can use to make me leave. I'll go to the this support office of vivienda on Friday and we'll report you. It doesn't look very promising out there.... I'm paying now about 650 Euros for 2 BR apart. I love my apart and my zone - Plaza Olavide, Glorieta Bilbao... I can "forget" of finding something of the same level around this price.

You are paying the same price that I was paying for my studio in Ríos Rosas. That's a deal for 650 and for a 2 bedroom in that area, that makes it even better.
Maybe the idealista site that I put up will give you some ideas.

Nava, your landlord cannot ask you to leave for a member of his family to move in. He has to actually move in himself. Don't forget to take your contract with you on Friday, and good luck There are a wodge of websites out there which may help. I found this one
Thank you Candy and Madsue !!!! I went today to the office of vivienda with my contract and with my landlord's e-mail. They were very nice and very helpful, they confirmed that my landlord can't throw me out before 2009 when the 5 years will terminated. They printed me the exact law and handed me a booklet with all the renting legal information . As my landlord is a professor at the Oviedo University, I'm sure he's aware of this law very well... So now it means war, how much I hate wars....

Well done Nava It is a horrid situation to be in, and as you say your landlord, I'm sure, knows the law. Maybe he was thinking that you didn't, or wouldn't try and find out.
I do hope it doesn't lead to too much hassle, but whatever happens you know you are in the right to stay put.
