Yeah, campingsonline or vayacamping are good sites to identify campsites. Reading back on the old thread, I would just like to add that, although I can't compare camping in Spain to US, the Spanish camping experience compares favourably to UK.
If you are going in August, then a lot of camp sites by the sea will be busy and sometimes, at least in popular places, it isn't possible to make a reservation for August in advance. However, there are lots of campings and the first class sites are to be recommended as these will have all facilities, such as swimming pool, reception, snack bar/restaurant, hot showers etc.
All you need do is take your own lightweight tent, plus roll mat/s and sheet/s. If you prefer airbeds to rollmats, then again you could take these, but if you don't mind sleeping on lilos, which you can buy locally, then these imo do just aswell for short stays.
Sometimes (in summer) it is so warm that you can sleep outside in say, a hammock, if you book into a site which has trees. But, on the other hand, if you are going to (say) north west Spain, rather than Mediterranean, you'd maybe best take sleeping bags. Prepare for rain though, just in case, coz when it rains in Spain, it rains.
One tip is to take rock pegs, the type that go into hard ground, rather than the normal type that come with lightweight tent. I've found it hard to buy camping equipment in resorts, apart from lilos which can substitute for airbeds.
The other thing which remains obscure seems to be instant BBQ's. I don't know if you can get these in the US, but here in the UK they are readily available. In resorts in Spain, all I've seen are foil grills, rather than whole instant BBQ, if you know what I mean.
Perhaps you'd like to say where in Spain you have in mind and whether or not you want entertainment or somewhere more quiet?
