I will be leaving for Madrid this Sunday and just booked a place to stay at Hostel Cervantes. But I was just looking at there info to check the address when I noticed that they have no air. Should I be looking for someplace else to stay?
I have read that Cervantes is in a good location and I have also read several recommendations for it. Any ideas? I had also looked into staying at Hostal Persal and Hoteo Green El Prado but did not hear back from either of them regarding inquiries I made about booking a room.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Big Grin

Hey Raquel, welcome aboard the Spain Board! Living in Madrid I can tell you that we have had a cool streak lately (the past week has been an absolute joy! Smiler ). There have been great breezes every day and the nights are soooo cooooool lately! If it keeps up, I don't think you will have to worry about the room not being air conditioned.

Just in case, here are a few Mediterranean living tips to stay cool Cool :

1) If your hostal room is exterior (looks onto the street rather than an interior patio), keep the shades/curtains drawn when you go out all day. This will keep the room from being heated up by the grueling Spain sun.

2) Take advantage of the mornings and afternoons when the sun is at it's weakest to do thing outdoors and spend midday in a cool tapas bar, a museum or other type of indoor cool entertainment.

3) Drink lots of water (a universal concept).

Have an amazing trip.
Saludos,
jer...
