Do those of you who have terraces actually use them? Victor and I are studying apartments with pics on the internet and there seems to be a wide variety in style and size of terraces, and the prices of pisos that have them.

Do you actually use them? Does it really enhance the square footage (oops, meterage) of your living space? Are they noisy? Dusty?

Thanks!

Hi Coco
I've a narrow balcony, I don't "use" it, but it's always nice to open the door and see the color of the sky, the people in the street, and be in the outside worldsmiler
And I guess if it's big enough it'll be nice to have your breakfasts/suppers outside in the terrace, (or to dry your laundry smiler)
The most important fact I've learned here is "light" "con luz", otherwise apartments can be very dark and gloomy
The second one for me is the apartment has to be a frontal one. They build here very strange sometimes, and I prefer my living room to be in the front of the building facing the street, and not inside facing the neighbor kitchen.
Good luck
Nava

Hi Coco,

I just moved to Madrid yesterday (yesss!) and I have a very small terrace. I also am in a "penthous" so we have giant slanted windows with a ton of natural light. Right now the terrace door is open and it's nice to walk out there to talk on the phone, or eat a snack.

I really think it depends on your personal interest. I mean, I LOVE being outdoors and I knew I needed a terrace so I could go out and get some air. If you aren't a person who has that necessesity, you probably won't have as much use for it. Just think about your personal preferences and what you need to make you happy.

Hope that helps smiler

I happen to be one of the most lucky people living in madrid in a spacious refurbished duplex attico with a terrace of about 50m2 on the 2nd floor.

And yes I use it every day from march onwards already. Barbequeing sunbathing and I even fixed a shower on the wall.

And lots of parties of course!

from my experience and people i know with terraces in madrid they are great!!! the only downfall is that from mid-june to early sept. it is too damn hot during the day to actually use them, even with an awning nutz

saludos,
