Hi All,

I'm moving to Spain at the end of July and have a couple of questions...

My flat for the first month is located near the metro stop Valdeacedaras - on line 1. This is a bit out of the city center (I think), but is this location okay?

Also, does anyone know anything about the CELTA course at the British Language Center?

I can't wait to move to Spain!!!!!!!!!!1

Hi! I live in the neighborhood and it is fine. It is a mix of a middle class neighborhood as well as more upscale/luxury housing recently being built. Bravo Murillo is the main street which is extremely commercial with many great shops. It connects with Plaza Castilla in the north end (where British Language Centre is) and La Castellana (the main north/south artery of the city), Sor Angela de la Cruz which takes you out to Cuzco (on la Castellana), and Cuatro Caminos.

Within walking distance are 2-3 movie theaters. If you take bus 49, you can be dropped off directly in front of La Vaguada, a large shopping mall with Alcampo (hipermarket), El Corte Inglés, movie theaters, and bars/restaurants. You also have a Polideportivo nearby (community gym) which has a weight room, swimming pool and aerobics classes.

The neighborhoods around Valdeacederas have many traditional bars and markets as well as businesses opened by immigrants: locutorios/internet cafés, speciality food shops, etc. The further down Bravo Murillo you go (towards Cuatro Caminos) the more diverse you will find the neighborhoods with more Latin American immigrants. If you are into Asian cooking, there are some great Asian/chinese grocery stores in the area.

Being on line 1, you are directly connected with more the centrally located neighborhoods around Sol/Gran Vía and will only take you 15 minutes on metro to get there depending on the time of the day. You are walking distance to Plaza Castilla (6 minutes walking) which also connects you to lines 6, 9, and 10, as well as the bus interchange for those buses going to the northern outskirts...(Alcobendas, Tres Cantos, San Sebastian de los Reyes, etc) important for you to know if you begin to teach in-company classes. . If I am not mistaken, you will probably be living in the Plaza de la Remonta ... British Language Centre owns a couple of flats there for its students. A lively plaza with some good terraces, just be careful not to be ripped off. A great bar for breakfast is El Cebón which is located on the corner of Mundillo and Capitán Blanco Argibay. 1,60€ for coffee, orange juice and a pastry (doughnut, croissant, churros, etc.).

Any other questions just post away!

Wow Chica, you rock! This is sooooo helpful! I looked at your website, just curious, why don't you list more info on your TEFL course? Dates, prices, etc? I think this would be very helpful for anyone that is shopping around. It looks like a great site though.

Thanks for the info, I am literally counting down the days until I leave!
