Hello all! I will be arriving in Madrid Oct. 20 to continue my Spanish (beginner) and teach English. Does anyone have a good recommendation about the apartment/flat search agencies? Any of them better than the rest? Or is better to search for a place on your own? Any advice is much appreciated!!!
Thanks,
The new Kid in Madrid

I know you are new to this board, but this question has been asked and answered a million times over already on this board. Please do a search and read through the existing threads.

Please see the accommodation finding tutorial at:
http://www.madridinsider.com/advice/viewtopic.php?t=6

I would suggest:
1). Take a place (hostal style flats with cooking facilities) for one to two weeks through Madrid Insider: Booking Service
http://www.madridinsider.com

2). Try to find a place on your own for a few days once in Madrid in person
(Segundamano, In Madrid, internet search, bilboards, new friends, etc.)
http://www.in-madrid.com , http://www.spainclassifieds.org , http://www.segundamano.es , http://www.gabinohome.com/en/search/ , http://www.spainexchange.com , http://www.tbs.com.es/classifieds , http://madrid.loquo.com , http://www.campusanuncios.com , http://www.easyroommate.com , http://www.iagora.com/ihousing/Spain/Madrid/ , http://www.expatriates.com/classifieds/mdr/hs/ , http://www.easyexpat.com/madrid_en/accommodation_rent-house-flat.htm, http://www.idealista.com

and then if you have no luck with it and get frustrated...

3). Contact Donald Timson at Opening Doors.

hey tbb003, welcome to the group brews

i second what Madrid Insider says.

i saw that on the basketball thread you wrote...

quote:
I will be arriving in Madrid for the first time on Oct 20 to teach English and try to learn some Espanol. This website has been great!

glad it has helped so much but have you looked through the forums enough?

i ask because, as Madrid Insider said, "this question has been asked and answered a million times over already on this board.". without a doubt the apt. hunting topic has been the most discussed and the info here is still very current.

take a loooooong hard look at the apt./flat hunting topics already on this ("accommodations - sleeping "siestas" between "fiestas") forum.

also, you started this thread on the wrong forum so i moved it to the accommodations forum. not to worry, you will get used to posting.

saludos,
jer...
