Hey gang, just wanted to share a dish (not necessarily Spanish) that I enjoy and that is VERY easy to make.

Arroz a la Cubana should technically be made with fried plantain but it is often served with suasages instead.

Fry an egg and cook the rice (no explanation required, I hope Eeker ).

Split the plantains in 2 and then cut in half, making 4 peices of each. Dip in a mix of egg and milk and fry to golden brown.

Add warm or hot (depending on your preference) tomato sauce.

It's that easy Big Grin

Saludos,
jer...

jer: First let me tell you that I am a "cubano", I do not know where the spaniards came up with fried eggs on top of white rice with ketchup and plantains as "arroz a la cubana". The only time I have seen that dish is in Madrid. We Cubans do not eat that, but that is what the Madrilenos call it. There are many Cuban rice dishes (congri=white rice & red beans or moros con cristianos= white rice & black beans, among them). By the way fried eggs on top of plain white rice was known in Cuba B.C. (before castro) as "desayuno de putas" (prostitutes' breakfast), hahahahahahah, but that is another story!

Hey esq, thanks but it is not actually ketchup but rather "tomate frito" (there is a difference). Ketchup would be nasty.

I never said they ate it in Cuba in my post Confused Just mentioned that I did not know where it came from, never even said it was a cuban dish.

Cuban or Spanish or even Taiwanese, still mighty tasty.

Them putas sure know a tasty plate when they see one Eeker
