Yeah, that's right, here in Spain, you don't have to go to the costa del sol for it either, we've got one right here in sunny Barcelona!

Over the last week or so, it has been boiling hot here, near on 35c in the shade some times, and with the humidity off of the scale, it's been almost impossible to eat anything much during the day while out & about, so most of the time we only went out very late to walk in the cooler night air and look for something to eat, often we'll head down to port Vell, via La Rambla, and on many occasions in recent years we've walked through an area called Rambla del Raval, as it's a very popular area for visitors and locals alike, lots of eating places, terrazas all over the place, and there at the lower end of the plaza (which is a very nice cool looking area full of very tall palm trees, and nicely lit-up after dark) at the lower end of the plaza is of all things a proper Fish & Chip shop, they've obviously worked on fish & chips in the UK at some time or another, because recently we've gone back a few times, cos it wasn't bad at all, not a 100% perfect, but fairly decent, the fish is only battered and cooked to order, so is fresh and hot, and the chips are not bad, and seeing as I was kind of gagging for some last week it didn't bother me that that they're just slightly not quite as good as the ones I've been used to from my local down near Baker street back in London, but the taste was still pretty good.

So, if you fancy a day trip to Barca (if you haven't got time to pop over to the UK) then do look them up and try out some nice hot fish & chips one night, you can sit in the nice cool
Plaza and eat them right out of the paper, with loads of salt & vinegar all over them, Yummmy!!

We really enjoyed that over the last week, it's fashion week here in Barca, and the place is packed to capacity, everywhere is buzzing, over the weekend we had the Brits out in force too, over here for the footy, so that too filled up a few bars & Terrazas, yeah, it was an ok kind of week, but just too bloody hot & humid during the day, but we managed to cope!

The beaches of Barceloneta are as always, plenty of people on them, but still enjoyable, but I still feel more at home on the beaches of Cantabria "La costa verde" it's a lot less humid.

I do however like the shopping more in Barca, I treated myself to some more rings, chains and watches, shoes, ties, stuff like that, as I know some pretty good shops for that kind of stuff around in bcn, prices pretty good too, there are much better shops here than in Santander, fantastic variety!

Well, there it is then, hope you do decide to visit, if you do, and you're into the British style of "fish & chips" you can find it right here.........

at the bottom end of Rambla del Raval, before you get to Carrer de Sant Pau. You can get there on Metros - Poble Sec, Paral-Lel, and Liceu, located right between La Rambla de Capuchinos and Avinguda del Paral-lel. You can't miss it, it's got a large sign up that says simply "Fish & Chips".

Go & enjoy!!

Saludos

Angelino
