I would cease to exist if I couldn't have a good cup of tea. I've had good luck getting tea at the Indian grocery stores in Lavapies. My favorite type is Assam, which, I think, is a major component of English Breakfast Tea.

I'm lactose intolerant, so I'm not really sure about the milk thing...I always thought whole milk was decadent! I think nata para cocinar is about 18% fat and half and half is around 10%, so it probably just needs to be watered down a bit. Nata para montar has even more fat, definitely too thick for cafe con leche, unless you like it soupy. At El Corte Inglés they also have something called "nata para café" (it's the French "President" brand). It comes in little containers that look just like the half and half you get at diners. I saw it in their store online, but they probably have it at Callao or Preciados.

Just bought some loose leaf green tea with bits of apple and apricot in it. My parents love it. The taste is subtle, yet light and refreshing. Tea is a great after dinner drink.

hey pconsmadrid.

have a look at
http://www.carrefour.es/hipermercados/guia_hipermercado...p?prov=11#cprincipal

the store in aluche (see http://www.carrefour.es/hipermercados/guia_hipermercados/aluche.html ) is your best bet as it is about a 5 minute walk from the aluche metro stop. you can see the carrefour from the metro exit.

saludos,

There's a Carrefour at Quevedo metro, or there used to be two years ago. I lived in Opera, worked in San Bernardo, walked up to do the shopping, and took the metro home.

There's also one on Conde de Penalver, halfway between metros Goya and Lista. I live down between Ibiza and Sainz de Baranda and still go up there to shop and take public transport home. Again. Hmm, there seems to be a pattern.

However these are local groceries, not the huge Wal-mart variety warehouse-sized supermercados you can sometimes find out in the suburbs. I don't go there. Public transport home too complicated with melting ice cream. big grin

Just to chime in on this old thread--I, too, was having the same problem in that I prefer a coffee creamer in my coffee. Leche will work in a pinch, but it's not my preference, wven when I was home in the states. I did finally find this at Carrefour, but in a package of 10 indivual servings. It was Presidente brand and I actually found it by the butter/margarine in the regrigerated area. Also, I just noticed it a couple of days ago in my local Mercadona wedged between 40 different kinds of milk.
