A fore-runner to my promised Valencia thread . . . if you're visiting the city, go eat at Ocho y Media. We paid 70 euros (inc 10% tip) for two courses each (starter and main), two copas, agua, brandy and a coffee. Oh, we were on the terraza too. Believe me, it was well worth it.
Just had a quick scoot around the web, and this is what I found:
Ocho y Media (Plaza Lope de Vega 5; +34-96/392-2022; dinner entres: 12-19 EUR, tasting menu: 31 EUR, dessert wine by the glass: 2.50-6.50 EUR) is a fabulous, hip eatery, hidden away in a quiet plaza mere meters off the main tourist square. The outdoor terrace is the quieter, more romantic, seating option. Inside is hectic, bright and popular with fashionable jazz-loving Valencians. An exhaustive wine list is accompanied by a creative and imaginative contemporary menu, sprinkled liberally with French and Spanish influences. Ocho y Media could not win higher praise for its dessert wine and dessert menus. Delights such as freshly blended sorbet of cava (Spanish sparkling wine) and lemon star on the main dessert menu, but there is an entire separate chocolate lover's menu to tantalize diners with its profusion of sumptuous choices.
The desserts looked scrummy, but we were too full to have any! I think the chef is Norwegian - lots of seafood - and I can't come up with enough words to describe how good it was!
Go there!!

Glory, glory to the hibees . . .
