well, in the last 15 hours, i discovered that both my favorite dinner spot and my favorite breafast spot have both become smoke-free with the new anti-tabacco law that came into effect at midnight on new yrs. eve.
so, i thought i would start a thread where people can post names and addresses of places where one can smoke, not smoke or both.
feel free to add to this in the following format:
-------------------------------------------------------------------- - city. - name of bar/restaurant (optional: you can add the phone number, a website address and/or a brief description if you like). - address (if a chain, you can list addresses separated by a /). - smoking, non-smoking or mixed. --------------------------------------------------------------------
please only post if you have at least the name and address since the name of a place without an address will be useless to visitors who read this.
this is NOT A THREAD FOR ARGUING NOR DISCUSSING THE NEW LAW, it is ONLY FOR LISTING PLACES. any and all discussion of the new law can be done on the already existing thread HERE.
anything more than a list of places will be deleted.
if everyone lists places they know, we should be able to get a good list going.
Please also post discos that are smoke free. Supposedly they all will be, but I don't believe it for a second. If I hear of one, I'll be much more likely to go. And Roland too.
Hey Jer, I am sure you will glad to know that your friends and mm sponsor is now smoke free as of around January 3rd we decided to go smoke free. Otherwise we couldnt let our son in the store. So there´s one more place you can visit without choking on the smoke.

i must say i was disappointed to see the smoking allowed sign when i popped in on jan 2nd and am VERY HAPPY you and javi changed your minds (or little ethan changed them for you ).
at any rate, congrats on making the healthy choice
aside from the people health factor, i can't imagine all that smoked being good for the books either
you will DEFINITELY see more of me around j&j!!! (and no, you can't change back just to keep me away ).
Not entirely sure on the name of the place but it's one of those cervecerías at Plaza Santa Ana, one of those that brew their own stuff. I was hanging out there Saturday night and all of a sudden I realized that the place was packed and I still could not see the air!! Wow!! No smoking signs were on the walls and people were actually going along with it and respecting it. It was great to get home and not have the stink in my hair and clothes. I honestly thought it would be much harder to enforce this in Spain but it seems to be working and I appreciate it. I'm all for respecting smokers' rights but I also want the option of going out and having my rights as a non-smoker respected. Lena
Actually, no, it's not the Cervecería alemana, that's about the only name that I remember of all the bars/pubs in the area (do give me some credit! ), but it is on the same side of street, two or three doors to the left on your map. Hey, your map does show the name of the places when you scroll over them! Now I'm pretty sure it's Naturbier, which is on number 9 of the Plaza, but it's good to know that the Cervecería alemana is also non-smoking. Very cool, can´t wait to go back there again. Lena
