Amy, I think that "good food" and "fast food" tend to be mutually exclusive.

If you mean fast food as in getting it quickly (as opposed to McDonald's-type fast food) there are always good sandwich places that are cheap and fast. That's usually what I eat when I'm in a hurry. Give me a tortilla sandwich and I'm a very happy girl. Anne

Hey Mickey D's and Burger King are good for SOMETHING! (I don't eat there, but they are good when you need the "servicios". :jeje: ) Amy, sedusa is right! There is no reason to eat at these places when you can go to Pans and Company, a cafeteria, or a bar and have something like a "pincho de tortilla" that is much better for you.

Some of Pans and Rodillas fast food is actually tasty, nutritious and vegetarian (though its hard to vouch for the ingredients in the bolleria). But you can always eat supermarket food, which gives you fine control over what you take, is very cheap, widely available, and if done correctly is nutritious and tasty. (Bread and cheese, yogurt, salads, fruit...) Of course if travelling with other people you may want to check out some restaurants, but thats less attractive when alone.

One thing I will say for McDonald's...they have those old fried apple pies that we can't get in the US anymore. (Though why we need to have these "healthier" baked pies is beyond me. I don't go to McDonald's for health food. ) So when I'm in Europe I do always have to stop in McDonald's for a couple of those.

Speaking of food, I love all food in Madrid. I love the freshness of all food in the shops and just getting to know the people that sell me food. That is a great feeling. Back in June and loving life again. Shawn
