I want to make quiche -- can I buy a pre-prepared refrigerated or frozen crust? If so, what is it called and can I get it in any grocery store or do I need to go to a specialty place? Thanks! big grin

hi llewilli.

i asked ena and she said it is called "pasta quebrada" or "masa quebrada".

you could use "hojaldre" as well but the "pasta quebrada" will give you much better results.

she should know since she is a wonderful cook yummy yummy yummy

you may need to go to "el corte inglés" as they do not sell it everywhere".

let us know where you find it (if you do).

saludos,
jer...

I've seen pasta quebrada (a.k.a. pâte brisée) in the refrigerated section at the Preciados El Corte Inglés.

In other quiche news... I had a surprisingly good one at the food court in Principe Pío at K. Paul (they have a little cart on the main level and a bigger place upstairs). They also sell decent varieties of French bread and some nice desserts.

Thanks! My mom makes this great quiche that uses sweet potatoes of all things -- it's really great. Just hope I can find sweet potatoes!

llewilli, sweet potatoes are common here.

they are called "batatas".

just ask at a veggie stand in a decent market.
