Ok, nothing to do with Spanish food but almost every misguided American expat (myself included ) has at one time or another missed their good old fashioned hot dogs.
So, (drum roll please!)... multmadrid proudly brings you CAPITAN HOT DOG (PIC!)
Literally a hole in the wall that serves up "perritos calientes", hot dogs, hot dogs and more hot dogs with EVERYTHING and/or ANYTHING on them
You can find Capitn Hot Dog on Corredera Altade San Pablo #53 (just off the Plaza de San Idelfonso), Metro Tribunal is closest.
How about "Chicago Style" hot dogs? And who can give me the definitive "recipe" for them? I know it should be a beef dog with natural casing, yellow mustard, "neon green" relish, a dill pickle spear, tomato slices and a shake of celery salt on a poppy seed bun, BUT: I've also had it with chopped un-pickled cucumber, which adds a special something....
My town, Rockford, MI has a chili dog "Wall of Fame" for people who can down a dozen or more. The record is 42 1/2!!

Ok, I have decided to spice up the hot dog thread with some pics of Ena and I at Capitn Hot Dog
Ena Getting her Dawg Ticket (see, you get a ticket first via a coin operated machine and then the guy makes you the "dawg", told ya it was very American ).
Well, I whipped out my handy dandy metric ruler, and 30 cm is the same as 300 mm, right? And 2.3 cm is 23 mm. I am picturing a lot hangin' off the bun... As for the Viena dog closeup, are those fries or fried onions or what decorating the top? And I notice that MAYO is a featured condiment, very interesting...
There is no consensus on the Chicago Dog relative to presentation of the cucumbers: diced or sliced. I have seen tortilla espaola potato prep presented both ways---I am definitely a slicer in that area(but I cheat and use a mandoline for thinner slices) Now my friend Elena tells me she pre-cooks the potato and onion in the MICROWAVE to save on oil consumption; tastes great(less filling out of hips) Imagine! I did not find out if she tosses the sliced stuff lightly in oil first or what, but she must or they would stick together.
The photos are great. What is your new camera? The "ticket" idea makes this even a bit like a country fair.
