Reading again the ingredient list in the above mentioned Casas' recipe for Spanish omelette, a question has come to my mind ; this is for those of you who can not cook a perfect "tortilla":
What do you do with the spare fried potatoes?

This is going to be so great. I love love love Tortilla Espanola but I cannot make it. Too much goo running all over the place. Hard potatoes. Burned crusties. Yuck. Thank god mm is coming to my salvation yet again. I look forward to the lessons.
Now, in the Sangria realm I am a champ. Mine may not be a true Spanish recipe, but it will truly make you happy. I'll bring all the ingredients plus enough vino for the first round. Will someone else chip in some vino. It can be cheap as the brandy and simple syrup take care of that, but please please please, no wine in boxes. That is too wino, not vino!
xoxo Candela

Yikes! I just read some of the above posts. I don't have a good frying pan and I am convinced that that is my problem with the tortilla. Can I use someone else's pan after they finish? I'll bring my Good Grips peeler though!

It's a pity I have to work this weekend because I would have loved to go to the Torti-party. Hope the next time I can.
Jer, or any other participant, dont forget to tell us abput the outcome of the instruvtive and didactic gathering and whose tortilla(s) was(were) the best.
Saludos
Cuiusvis hominis est errare, nullius nisi insipientis in errore perseverare
Words cannot express the AWESOME time we all had at our first multimadrid tortilla fest!!!
I have not laughed so hard since Tevia's going away party :jeje:
Well, we were 12 at our place for the fiesta and there were lots of goodies aside from the tortillas.
Candela's sangra was sweeeeeeeet as usual and THE most popular drink at the party (BY FAR)
Everyone was so generous in bringing sooooo much food and drink, kudos to all
Well, the tortillas were all great!!!
Max and Ena "schooled" the tortilla makers on the "hw to" of it all and especially Max was the "professor extraoedinaire" of the night, a HUGE SPECIAL THANKS to him, HE MADE THE NIGHT!!!
"Tortilleros/as" included Max, Ena, Desha, Juliette, Candela, Judi.
I was basically in charge of filming the event and I got over 200MB of video footage!!! Way too much to make available on my website so I am going to put together a cool CD of the party.
The footage shows very well how to make tortilla and commentary is included. That all important "flip" is especially covered in the footage.
Everyone who attended will be able to pick up a free copy from me and I will also make the CD available to ANYONE AND EVERYONE who wants it via snail-mail. Thos interested can send me an e-mail to jeremy@multimadrid.com and will only have to pay for shipping via certified mail (probably about 4 Euros to Spain and UK and 6 to USA & Canada).
If you want a short vid. clip sample, e-mail me and I can send it to ya via e-mail so you can decide whether ya want the whole CD.
p.d. to all who were at the party, while I will not eat tortilla for at least a week, Ena had a slice of Juliette's last tortilla for breakfast this morning
Ena did excel in teaching,... she did a much better work than mine,... since she realized about everything I missed, and explained it to "our" students.
So, we should say thank you to her, and, of course, to you: we messed everything up at your kitchen. At least, all the "tortillas" were excellent,... even mine ;-)
And there is no good teacher if there are no good students,... but Juliette, Candela, Desha and Judi are outstanding ones... their "tortillas" exceeded the first one - my own omelette :-S
P.S. The "sangra" was really good. Candela, I need that recipe!

I can't be stopped...I had a pincho de tortilla this afternoon and I'd gladly eat more if I had it handy...wait a minute...I have potatos, onions and eggs in the kitchen. And now thanks to Max and Ena I know what the heck to do with them! A flipping I will go...or at least flip out trying.
Thanks jer and ena for making it all so. Max you are divine, supremely patient, an excellent teacher.
Great seeing and meeting all the others too...Lena, Judi, Raquel, Patricia, Juliette, Desha and Caroline..if I've missed anyone I blame it on the tortilla.
PS the sangria recipe is a sworn secret. Well not really, but I am sure there is another thread for that. When I find it, I'll post it, promise.
Thanks again jer and ena! You both ROCK!!!!!
