Last night, I had the best meal ever since landing in Spain 2 months ago. We found the restaurant written up in Aprils Broadsheet.
The place is called Bluefish and is located on Calle San Andrs 26, on the Plaza del Dos de Mayo (M: Tribunal or Noviciado, 91 448 67 55). It is owned by two young Americans, Bridget and Adrienne (sp?). Bridget was working while we were there; lets just say that it was nice to have good customer service again.
The food is pretty global. Each plate is similiar to a racin, great to share. We ordered three which were all great as well as a perfect amount for 2. We had a spinach salad with oranges, goat cheese, mushrooms, red peppers, zuchinni and an oriental dressing, shrimp dumplings with a soy/sesame dipping sauce, and mini-baked potatos, each with a different topping such as salmon and cream, goat cheese and chives, cheddar and bacon, and roquefort and walnuts. The kicker? Each plate costs between 5-8 euros. Are you kidding me with these prices? So reasonable!
Anyhow, the place is funky (bamboo placemats, jazz music, sofas), service is friendly, the food tastes great and the presentation is neat. It reminded me of some of the cool San Fran restaurants Id eaten in...except for a quarter of the price.
Bluefish also opens for lunch after the vacation season and has a Sunday brunch that we fully intend on trying someday with pancakes, waffles, bagels and lox, and eggs and potatoes.
No, I dont have any affiliation to this place, we just loved it that much!

I'm going to have to find out how to get ahold of an editor at the Broadsheet... I don't know if they already have a section dedicated to this, but I would like to nominate you as the Broadsheet's new culinary expert. I'd imagine you wouldn't mind too much.
Seriously...good write up...We'll have to check it out!

Gonna have to try that place, thanks for the heads up Rachel
RE the Broadsheet and Rachel's future with them: They are MEGA S.N.O.B.S. over there at that "publication" and I think you have to be British to write for them. As an American, the best Rachel could hope for is a sales job (selling ads) and that only after passing a British language test
