Hi everyone,
For those of you stateside folks craving chorizo, I thought I'd tell you that I ordered some from La Espaola Meats ( www.laespanolameats.com) made at their plant near LA.
I ordered chorizo de Pamplona, cantimpalo, chorizo blanco, fuet, and salchichon de Vic. I am especially enjoying the fuet, cantimpalo, and chorizo blanco.
I would order all again, with the possible exception of salchichon de Vic. It's good, but to my peasant's palate not much different than the Gallo dry salame that is available everywhere here at less than half the price.
(Jer, to be fair I will try tienda.com also, but it's twice as far from me as La Espaola Meats, so I went for the quick delivery this time! )
I have told Irene to give the chorizos to a neighbor for safekeeping, otherwise there will be none left for us to bring to her parents' 45th anniversary party this weekend!

Well, is'nt that just dandy . Mr. Paul gets his chorizo faster but poor little jeremy who slaves over the PC to bring the world multimadrid while asking nothing in return does not get his 10% commission that he would from tienda if Mr. Paul could just CLICK THIS LINK (or on any of the many tienda banners all over the multimadrid web site) and wait a bit longer for his chorizo to arrive
Jejejejeje, enough of a guilt trip for ya? You can just cut the sarcasm with a knife huh
Jer, poor slobs like me need to send away for our chorizo fixes, while you can just saunder down the street! So, delivery time is a big deal! I'll make a tienda.com order soon, because I HAVE to make a comparison...
It looks like tienda.com has a larger selection. And, for you Midwest/East Coast folks, its Florida location means a shorter delivery time than if you ordered from La Espaola Meats from LA!
(Does this marcom spin help redeem my errant ways? je je je )

Jejejejeje, you are forgiven. I can not imagine what it must be like to have to wait for that delivery, and even worse, ya gotta wait for the party to eat the chorizo
Anyway, the wackoooo who ordered $1,400 worth of food a few months back (no offense to said wackoooo , please keep ordering) and earned me a sweet $140 commission more than makes up for your dissin' me via La Espanola
I was looking at La Espaola Meats and I see that they make their own stuff so I too am dying hear your opinion and feedback on the comparison since tienda imports everything from Spain (I think).

Yep, the waiting was ruff, but the party decision was easy. I had two options:
(1) Serve it on Friday night, for the family members who arrive a day early to help with the party. This also ensures that my mother and father in law get some (they remember chorizo from their trip to Spain in 2000).
(2) Serve it at the party, watch it disappear in 15 minutes , then spend all night explaining that chorizo is a fairly generic term, and is not only for the variety sold in this part of the world (which looks somewhat like sobrasada before it is cooked).
I'm opting for (1).

Jer, I must admit, I get all our Spanish imports from La Espanola too. You see, we do business with them with our friends restaurant (where esposo works) so i'm very familiar with their food. I agree with Paul, the chorizo is firstrate-tastes just like Spain! We always have our cuboards full of boquerones, piquillos, tomate frito, y bonito, et al. The only thing they don't have is La Casera, which La Tienda does!!!! So you all on the east coast are pretty lucky!!!!1

Hey Booklady, seeing the price of Casera at tienda.com (even at 40% off), I still say I am going to have to start exporting that stuff to you in the U.S.
Hey Paul, I hear ya but the word "EXPIRED" would normally mean that there are fewer and fewer bubbles in it as it becomes more and more "EPIRED" and Casera without the bubbles is... well... water
Just got my La Casera order, fortunately it was bubbly as ever, so my lot was ok! :jeje: Made some Sangria using Mermaid's recipe, made myself a bocadillo of Jamon Serrano and Queso manchego, and I am in Miss Piggy heaven!
Later I am going to make some double chocolate brownies to finish my epicurian delight, can you smell them over there Jer? BTW have you gotten my parcel yet?
