Hi Everyone!

I bought lots of chocolate from Madrid and cannot replicate the good hot drink that I drank all over town from San Gines, Mallorquina, Ferpal, etc., etc. Can anyone help? Do you use a different kind of milk (condensed, evaporated), do you add anything to the chocolate? I keep stirring and stirring on the stove and it isn't the decadent, thick kind that I drank. What am I not doing?

Thank you!!!

JoJo (going through major chocolate withdrawal)

Hi Jojo, I have made it here at home and it came out fine, I did not use any special milk or anything. Maybe it is the U.S. milk that is killing it Wink

try the following:

1) Let it sit a few minutes after you make it, the longer it sits the thicker it becomes.

2) Use a more chocolate and less milk mixture, that should thicken it up a bit.

That's all I can think of right now.

Saludos,
jer...

p.d. I did find this dreamy site --> www.amigosdelchocolate.com as I was searching around for chocolate on line Big Grin

I was tempted and I fell---what a great site! I am a huge fan of chocolate and it's great to discover that it's so good for you! However, they refer to the Maya guy as "one of few" and there are lots and lots of maya folks in Guatemala. Perhaps not compared to 500 years ago... And to find out that most chocolate is from the Ivory Coast--that's a surprise, indeed.

Hmmm, wonder if there's any chocolate in the house?

Hola sfslinky,
I did the same thing and mailed myself several packages of Chocolate! Anyway, if you want thick hot chocolate, add a quarter to a half teaspoon of cornstarch to your chocolate mix,add your hot water or milk, I prefer evaporated milk myself and like Jeremy says let it sit for a few minutes. Then get some Churros and you are in pig heaven. Big Grin By the way the Spanish company Pescadora sells frozen churros here in Florida, and they are not too bad, as long as you know how to fry them!

Enjoy your chocolate Smiler

One thing, you sure that is not "Pescanova"?

It is just that they sell all sorts of frozen foods and I have never heard of "Pescadora" Confused

Hi Booklady!

Thank you for your tips. I tried again this weekend before I read your posting and my chocolate is still weak. I let it sit, I stirred and stirred. Still not thick. I never use water - only milk. Maybe I'll try evaporated instead.

Hi Jer!

I will give you my results shortly! I have tested about 8 cups of chocolate and have not succeeded yet!
