This is yet another thing I cannot understand. Why on earth would a Spaniard ever want to eat a greasy ball of sugar coated fried dough, when they have Palmeras? It falls into the same realm as having a Starbucks when the cafe con leche is far superior!!

Toni, I understand your puzzlement, but I have to side with Jer. (Local) people have free choices, but IMHO the often don't make the right ones! "Different" is not always bettter!
My view on the situation is this:
quote:
If the only patrons in such establishments were American tourists or expats, they would go out of business.
My only use for McDonalds can be summed up in two words: "Free Restrooms".
"An honest man is always a child" - Socrates ...no wonder I'm so immature!
I remember seeing them for sale in a two pack in bars, but I figure they're kinda like the stale ones for sale in gas station mini-marts here.....In that case, KK would be an improvement!
"An honest man is always a child" - Socrates ...no wonder I'm so immature!
... which is not the best translation since the word "donuts" is very much used in the Spanish language.
Not sure why they use "rosquillas" since a rosquilla is not a donut and a donut not a rosquilla.
I have asked Spaniards and they say that "Mmmmmmmmm... rosquuuuuiiiillaaaaas" just sounds better than ""Mmmmmmmmm... dooooonuuuuuuts" but I say call a spade a spade!!!
You know this is really off topic but. When I saw the word spade I thought of the shovel used by the germans in my ww2 online shoot-em up. Does anyone here play Counterstrike online? We could make our own multimadrid team!

Didnt know what Krispy Kremes were till I read this thread, but I dream about Dunkin Donuts (sorry thats the brit in me again!). Have only been to the states and canada a few times, but one thing on my wish list when I get there is a box of donut holes!!!! Im also probably the only person on this board that cannot get excited about palmeras!!! No, not even the chocolate covered ones, cos it aint Cadburys!!!!!!!
