well, my favorite recipe site recently picked its favorite restaurants in Madrid. Here is the site if any of you are looking for somewhere yummy to go. I have not been to any of them however. Anyone else heard of them?

Un saludo

well obviously I agree as well as I havent been to any of them but there are people with more $ than I or posts like "swishy restaurants", or even someone just looking for a special occasion place.

True! Most of us have been to an 'expensive' restaurant for that special occasion, you're right Wink

Hopefull, someone who has been to one (or more) on the list can tell us what they experienced.

The price thing might be the reason why Ive never been to casa Lucio or any of the others :jeje: :jeje: . Uno que es pobre y no puede permitirse ciertas cosas Frowner But you are right, they are good for taking into account for special occasions (accompanied by paga extra or the lotera primitiva Big Grin )

La Broche is the only Michelin guide three star restaurant in Madrid,... and it charges in proportion, i.e., it is too pricey, but you can be sure you are getting a good meal - I've never been there: don't take this as a review ;-).

Be careful with Casa Lucio: I've been told that Lucio himself prouded of just cooking simple popular dishes and charging over their real value just because there are lots of vips among his regular clients (among them, the king of Spain).

I wouldn't say Casa Valencia is really expensive if the paellas are as good as the reviewer says: it is true that good paellas are difficult to find in Madrid, and they are always expensive.

Finally, I know that there are more threads about restaurants, but this might be a good occasion for recommending an unknown restaurant: the one at the famous Residencia de Estudiantes. There is a short menu (you have to choose from just two starters, two main dishes, two desserts) for 11 EUR. The meals are sometimes outstanding,... some others they are a little bit disappointing (their chards are terrible), but you can always enjoy the setting where Garca Lorca, Dal, Buuel, Ochoa, and so many others lived or visited when they were in Madrid.

I have to try the option of the residencia de estudiantes. It sounds appealing to me! Although Im from Spain, I havent been in Madrid long enough to know these things. Thanx very much, Max.

"La Broche is the only Michelin guide three star restaurant in Madrid,..."

La Broche is not a three-star Michelin restaurant. There are four in Spain and La Broche is not one of them. Arzak, El Bulli, Can Fabes and Martin Berasategui are the four.

Ops! Sorry. I wanted to say that "La Broche" is the only two star restaurant in Madrid. I gave them one extra star, and I do not know if that could be justified. Anyway, they charge as they had the third one ;-)

La Broche (French, modern, international) – La Coqueta, Samarkanda, El Palacio de Anglona, Cafe Oliver

Casa Lucio (traditional)– Casa Alberto, Casa Ciriaco

Casa Valencia (rices) – Champagneria Gala

Julian de Tolosa (Basque) – Sidrera vasca Zerain, Alkalde, Dantxari
