Carmen, I am not surprised you call them Elephant Ears. I remember the bakery department at the Publix supermarkets in Fl. All the pies and other pastry there is 5x bigger as here. Eeker Our palmeras are mouse ears compared to yours! :jeje:

Hi Martine, I've missed you! You are right about our X-Large pastries, they all go around your hips and refuse to leave. Now Publix is bringing Manchego cheese, Tetilla cheese and Jamn Serrano!
What a tragedy for my weight loss program! :lo:

I know, I know Carmen. I'm just back from our holiday in Spain. If the trip back with the car hadn't be so long, I could have taken a picture similar to "the "ham" pic of the week". A whole week we ate "jamn" and "quso manchego" on our "pan". And after another week in the French Alps (cheese fondue etc.), I can assure you that I also have to loose a few pounds now. Frowner But not before I tried your rice with beer recipe, which I'll make this evening, not with that disgusting Dutch Heineken beer sold all over the world, of course, but with good Belgian Jupiler! Red Face

Btw, those Publixes are great! As far as I can say, the best supermarkets we saw in Fl.

Ok, got you! Big Grin I knew you would react like this and I was just waiting for this reply :jeje: . Listen, no hard feelings, I would never, never (!) say any bad thing about Dutch cheese, but about beer...honestly...that's our speciality. Don't you agree?

Yikes!!! Eeker Eeker Eeker That time of the year has arrived, the day we all dread, the ONLY day we see something in the Mallorquina window that we absolutely despise...

Ok, last year they only closed the month of August, this year the month of August and almost 2 weeks of July.

Not for nothing but do they have any idea what they are doing to me Razzer

I finally had a palmera today!!! But, it was not that good. It had no chocolate Frowner . And when I asked the guy behind the counter what they were called (he spoke Spanish and I told him I wanted a Palmera...he had no idea what I was talking about)he called them ears. I miss the ones with chocolate.
