Being from California and having lived in Mexico, I give my vote for these two mexican resturants that I find to be the most authentic. Resturante Don Pedro on calle Don Pedro (la latina area) and circa calle Belen. They have mexican cooks and staff. The food is great. The second one is a little place near plaza mayor behind the pricessa theaters. It has a plastic cerveza bottle hanging out the front door and is usually standing room only. The menu is very limited but again the owners are mexican and the food is authentic from the yucatan region of mexican. That means everything is tiny but tasty. There is one other mexican resturant on calle Huertas that is also good but the dishes have been spanishize (if that is a word) but still enjoyable. I know of another resturant in la latina but have yet to try it.
