A few months ago I was in an Arab restaurant, but we didn't go there for having dinner, we went there to smoke whisky.
They prepare you a big "Cachimba" a big pipe?, filled with whisky. In the top of the cachimba there's a little hole with tobacco. When you smoke from the tube, the tobacco is mixed with the whisky's vapour and you smoke this mixture.
I dont smoke but it is an interesting experience
I'll look for the exact place. I belibe that is in Ventura Rodrguez or nearby.
Goodbye!

Hey totx, you should be an "off the beaten path" Madrid guide buddy
Ihere is another place exactly like that one you mentioned but it is on Call Huertas just off the Plaza de Santa Ana. It is about half way down the street on the right hand side as you head away from the Plaza.
It is an Arabic caf/tea room and is very cool inside and super relaxing with sofas and big puffy chairs and benches. Arabic arches and designs everywhere as well. I have been there for caf and sawpeople smoking just like you mentioned above. Not sure what was in the pipes since I did not partake but it looked cool enough and certainly an off the beaten path experience here in Madrid.
