Me friends and I got talking about our upcoming trip to Madrid and the Costa del Sol. I guess the question is what is the legal drinking age in Spain. I've looked and I've seen anywhere from 16 to 18 and we were just wondering what the actual age is.

hey Kyle, hmmmm... sounds like you whippersnappers are planning on gettin into trouble...

ok, grandfather figure aside wink, the legal drinking/buying alch. age here is now 18 (no matter what you have read).

if you read it was 18 then the places you read it have no updated their info since the age was raised to 18 years ago (if i am not mistaken i think it was moved to 18 in jan. 2003).

here they call that age the "mayoría de edad" and it is like 21 in the u.s.a.

jajaja...thanks for clearing that up... I dont even know why my friends and I started talking about that. I guess I was telling them about my 3 week trip to Ukraine and how it seemed like 12 year olds were walking around with a beer in their hand drunk. But anyway, thanks. Most of us will be of legal age when we'll be there, so we should get in that much trouble...jajaja

As long as you don't get stupid and get into a fight or destroy anything I doubt anyone will give you any problems, even your underage friends. I'm always seeing drunk teenagers in Madrid and no way are they all over 18, some of them look like they're barely 15. Have fun, but stay out of trouble.

Gads, am doomed to forever be a nanny. roll eyes
