FYI-the show is in town only till the end of the month-really fun, sexy, wild experience. I definitely recommend it. Ran for seven years off Bway in New York-no idea why it is only here for a couple of weeks. It is music (Jules, up your alley, I do believe), dance, acrobatics, a sensory challenge. Hard to describe what it is exactly. As they called it there "theater that falls from the sky." Not for kids, but for grown-up kids. nah nah

Hey schwendy.

Ticktackticket is famed for crashing a lot.

I saw an ad for this show on the back of one of those Madridvision busses today, looks interesting.

As for the

quote:
Ran for seven years off Bway in New York-no idea why it is only here for a couple of weeks.

What works in NY will not necessarily fly here.

Take CATS for example, it ran for more than 2 decades in NY (22 years I think) but was only here for a year or so.

If the show (De La Guarda) is good and a hit here, they will extend it.

Out.

FYI, it's not an American show-it's from Argentina-it's been all over the world for extended periods of time with great success. Cats ran on Broadway for so long not for New Yorkers, but because people came from all over the world to see it. This show survived seven years off Bway with little tourist interest. It will not be extended here as is moving to Sevilla right after the New Year and then off again. So now's your chance-or you'll have to catch it in South America. big grin

The theater industry is quite different in Madrid. There aren't many theaters (other than the really big ones that have blockbuster type musicals like Hoy no me puedo levantar) that have long running plays. Most of the theaters are government subsidized and the plays have a set run and don't get extended. Sometimes if a production is very successful, it can move to another theater or get reincarnated later on. But most of the time it just moves on.

... and he is right, i recall "mayumana" was "prorrogado" (extended) here in madrid when they first came a few years ago due to their huge success.
