Hi sgerene, I have changed the title of this thread as "another question" is not a good one since nobody will ever find it in the future if they do a search, hope you don't mind the new title. I always carry small luggage locks with me whenever I travel (either with a backpack or a normal suitcase) since they will keep your bag from being opened, or at least act as a deterrant. They can also double as the locks that you can use at some backpackers hostels to put on the lockers that they may have to offer and save you money that it would normally cost to rent the mini locks. I find that combination ones are the best since you have no keys to worry about As for the copy of the passport on the pack, I had never heard of that but there is usually a pouch on packs that has a clear plastic window and it is a good idea to put in there a paper with your name, phone # and home address in case your pack is lost.
