Hola Juliette, It's good to be able to get back in touch with you since the party at Candy's. How are things going? I'm glad I found this thread since I had a club related question. I once went to this great macrodiscoteca several years ago in the outskirts of Madrid. It was near one of the "Barrios" fuera de Madrid. It was great, it had like 5 levels on each of the wings each with its own music and ambience as well as a huge dancefloor in the center with an excelent light show and prestine sound system. They even had automated drink machines so you could order your drink through a kind of machine, pay for it, then give the ticket to the bartender to fill you order. The place was also very nice indise with sofas in the "Pasillos" and even tight secuity (hidden cammeras and things) Any ideas as to the name of the club or its wherabouts? I can't seem to remember but I always wanted to return... Till later,
Rick Allen

Hey Rick, I actually have no idea about what club that might be. Perhaps Serge has it, but c/Atocha isn't exactly in the outskirts of Madrid. There are lots of clubs in the Sur area, in fact one is called Fabrik and holds something like 6000 people and Carl Cox played there to a sold out crowd. They are having a HUGE indoor/outdoor house music fest on Sunday, June 13 from 2pm-Midnight and my friend Laura and I are getting a posse together to go. It's metro-then-bus-accessible, 12 euros to get in. Should be a blast. If anyone wants to go, please let me know!

Hi guys, listen I have recentrly been in "Shabay" and "Moma" and although they are cataloguised as "pijos" they are amasing. Sort of indi-samba-techno-jouse-groovy type of music with DJs and sometimes guys paying bongos at the same time. Great music, specially Shabay. Shabay is in Miguel Angel, just beside next door the Hotel Miguel Angel in Castellana. Moma, is in Jose Abascal, near martinez Campos. If u are interested i will send you more information. By the way, anyone interested in Live music?? blues , jazz? there are amasing places in Madrid with this type of Music. Bar 54, La coquette etc. Loads. So, if anyone up for it, just send me a note. Ciao bellos Anita

Juliette, The house music fest sounds great! I'll mark it down on my calender so count me in (I don't care if I have to work the next morning, some things like partying are more important!!) Also, (for you and anyone else out their in syberspace) I will be putting up a new ttopic called "music webpage" to introduce a website I developed to promote my music so let me know what you think. Every one can enter and its free to download or stream songs to your heart content as now I have begun to promote the site to the industry and anyone else for that matter on the net. The address is www.rickmusic.comTill later,
Rick Allen

Hi Anita, Juliet,
Just to clarify Anita's post. Shabay is on Miguel Angel, but next door to the Tryp (Escultor?) hotel, and across the street from the Instituto Internacional, for those of you who know it. MOMA is on Jose Abascal up the street from the Hotel Miguel Angel.
I'm glad to hear you liked both. I walk past Shabay a lot since I live in the neighborhood, but have always thought that you had to be pijo, los "beautiful," or los "famosos" to get in. I thought it was like the Cotton Club of old Harlem where they featured black entertainers but didn't let black customers in, that type of thing, so I'm glad to hear that your impression is different.
Juliet, the June 13th thing sounds interesting. I will probably be out of town that weekend, but I will continue to check the board.
Cheers,
Eduardo

Ok, I know I'm *still* almost the only serious clubber on this list (but I've brainwashed I mean enticed at least a couple others from time to time) and one day someone's going to be SO GLAD I posted... Anyway, Big To-Do All Day Saturday New Year's Day at Space, literally one of the top 10 discos on the planet. Yes, that means global reputation. Absolutely the best quality sound possible, very classy with lots of places to sit and enjoy the view as well as dance your heart out, a super-friendly crowd that's not-too-pijo (but not slackers either), generally ages 25-40 (how cool is that), lasers, video jockeys, great DJs, incredible vibe, daytime hours (10 AM - 10 PM! ) so you can get to bed at a reasonable hour, what more could you possibly want? Ok, you could want it cheaper. Advance tix are 40 euros, and it will sell out. Get 'em at Madrid Rock and other typical locations. I know, I know, it's a fortune. But think, per hour, if you go for 8 hours like I do, it's a great deal! Lemme know if you want to join the fun. :m:

I will not give up! Been a long time since I posted on this thread and we have a ton o' new members, so I thought I'd enter my annual "plug for clubbers" on the mm board, few and far between tho they may be. Have finally lined up a super-nice and fun crew of Spaniards and ex-pats to party with, but we're always looking for more people who love the house/techno vibe. May 14, that's all day Sunday on a puente, Oscar de Rivera will be spinning at Space. Oscar is one of the best house DJs to grace Spain, and Space is one of the best clubs to grace the planet in terms of sound quality. Space is at Chamartin Metro Station. If anyone's up for some all-day madness on that upcoming puente, let me know! DJZelda@gmail.com.
