Hi all,

I really love the nightlife here, but so far I didn't find a bar or a club where they are not mostly playing songs of "Operacin Triunfo".
Does anyone know a bar/club where they play music like Britpop or Alternative or as well songs of international hitlists?
I would be happy for every hint.

Kathrin

In Malasaa there are bars with more alternative music and old hits like the Jam, the Stones, the Clash ... have a look there in la Va Lctea, El Penta o Tupper Ware ..... a long time ago since I used to go there.
I cannot think of any with Britpop without OT, normally they go together

I was about to suggest all the bars Miguelito said. They are great places to hear old 80's music, Alternative music and has more of a punkish atmosphere. Of course, there are the people who still wear their Miss Sixty outfits and request OT songs, but the DJ knows better!

These places are a lot of fun and a good way to hear something besides 40 Principales.

PS: I do love OT, but getting a break now and then is quite refreshing. Big Grin

For the record, OT bites!!! Roll Eyes Red Face

Serge, I am giving you permission to recommend bars here on the thread.

I prefer to keep it public for EVERYONE rather than you sending an e-mail for only Kathrin to see.

Hey Tev, congrats on Total Madrid Nut status!!! Big Grin

Hmmmmmmmm, now that I think of it, perhaps I should limit all members who publicly admit they like OT (and/or La Oreja de Van Gag-me-with-a-spoon ) to just the basic "madrid/spain nut !" status.

Kinda like a punishment for having horid musical taste Red Face

Ok,

The bar I would recommend is Autores. We've done it up really nice (talking about the interior). the music varies from 60's/70's/80's to soul to trip hop. Nice ambiance to start the evening off. If you need ref. ask Jer he's been Big Grin
the street is Campoamor, 6

across the street (number 3) we have an other bar, called Impacto, the music here is normally house-ish, but as of next thursday( big inauguration party!), the 24th (and every following thursday from then on) we will host a R&B/HipHop/etc. session with Borami entertainmentz, who brings dj's from las 40 principales or people like DJ KUN.

hope this helps.

salu2,
serge

That is hillarious! Kinda like how I feel about people who like Christina Gagulera-me-with-a-spoon.

I do admit, OT is lame, but I still like it. Oh, David Bisbal is coming to Tiajuanna, but I probably won't go. He is spreading, almost to the US.

Serge, your club sounds like fun. Good luck with the Inaguration Fiesta. Maybe it can be the next mm get together.

Ok, some more bars to widen your choise.

Pacha: every wednesday, hip hop, r&b, etc. Also R&b, hip hop etc, on fridays and saturays on the second floor, first floor house. c/ barcelo

honky tonk: basicly has a full agenda with concerts. c/covarrubias 24

On calle hortaleza there are a lot of bars which are lounge bars, so the music is really mellow.

Molly Malones, irish pub, a little bit of everything. C/Manuela malasaa.

hope this helps,
serge

Thanks Serge, you are now the resident bar/club expert here at multimadrid.

"...next thursday (big inauguration party!), the 24th..."
Ok, if Ena does not score free tickets to the Morcheeba concert at Bellas Artes from work for this Thursday night, you can bet we will see you at "Impacto" (campoamor #3).

A few questions:

1) What time does the inauguration party begin on Thursday night?
2) Is there a cover charge (door fee) to get in?
3) If the answer to #2 above is "yes", will whispering "multimadrid" to the house-sized doorman get us in for free? Big Grin
