Hi all,

Hope everyone is well...

I'm looking for a good nightclub to go to on a Saturday night...the group I'm going with range in ages from 28 to 45..

Most of us remember either the 70's disco..80's cheese and 90's pop..is there a nightclub in Madrid that can provide such a night out??

Any help is gratefully received, :ks:

Best regards,

Mike

Hey there!

Well, Why not? is alot of fun. They do play a lot of disco and other sundry hits from the 70s and 80s, both American and Spanish. However, it is small, small, small. You will be super crowded there. I don't know the size of your group, but for more than 3 folks to hang together, it is nearly impossible.

Another alternative is Xarandonga. It is on C/Echegaray right in the Santa Ana/Huertas party zone. It is across from Cardamomos. The number is 10 or something. There you will get a 1/2 hour block of spanish disco, then 1/2 block of american hits...staying alive, i will survive and that hot hot classic it's raining men (oh if only!!!) anyway the only thing it has over Why not? is lots of space, both upstairs and down.

I can also personally vouch for it as I have jumped all over their dance floor dozens of times playing the diva queen that i surely was in a former life.

Thanks Candela and joquecalor !!!

I have made a note of these two clubs and will pass the details onto the other 8 persons in our group..

Only 22 days to go and we'll be there!!!!

We cannot wait...hopefully the weather will be good so we can enjoy lots of outside drinking and culture...

Any other clubs/bars etc that would be good party atmosphere just let me know...

Muchos gracias,

Mike Big Grin

Ummmh I am trying to remember if any of the 3 big discos (Palace, Joy, Kapital) in the city center offer the music you are looking for.......ummmh I dont think so, they have different music but modern all of it..
As for why not in Chueca, I have not been yet but I am almost sure this is gay and lesbian club. Nothing again these people but if you are looking for a straight club..........

Lolitas on C/Manuel de Falla (north end of the Bernabeu stadium)has the decor and two floors ,two d.js. and generally plays that funky stuff, it stays open very late and there's no cover charge, though it charges late night prices

Hi all,

Has anyone got any comments on Club Nasti???

Is it straight/gay/mixed/bi/All the above..

We are all straight...well at least I think we are. Eeker ..you just don't know nowadays.... Big Grin Big Grin but we all love a good time wherever that may be...

The review on a web site is as follows:

The music here is nothing like the name suggests - the venue caters for the fluffier type of clubber and visitors dress in spangly outfits, don the prerequisite chic hair clips and dance to the likes of Pulp, techno-infused pop and a sprinkling of Seventies tunes.

Is this a true reflection??

Thanks,

Mike

re: Why Not?
Hey jer. While why not is probably considered primarily gay, the many, many, too many times I've gone there it has always been a blast, and I've certainly seen my share of gay/bi/straight/tran/whatever. It isn't what I'd consider a pick up place; my impression is that it's much more of a love for music and hanging out place. Keep in mind it is tiny. It's a domed cave in essence, and if you can't stand smoke, broken glass on the floor and elbow to elbow standing room only, you probably should pass. If you do go, a tip would be to try to make your way to back where the bathrooms are. There is a air conditioner unit right above the doors to the bathroom which is a huge relief from the smoke and heat. It's a great bar and I have so many memories of listening to spanish pop music, watching the bartenders dance on the bar (ala coyote ugly) and drinking my cacique y limon. Great great place. Depending on the size of your group and when you get there, though, it may too crowded for your liking. Great club. Did I mention it's a great club?
Priscilla has more room but it has seemed to me typically deader than why not. Both are good if you like spanish music though.

God!! yess!!!! how is it I didnt realized before!?

EL SOL
it is in one of the streets that end up in Montera st (which ends up in Sol). The place is brilliant, you will find it for sure on the internet. It opens late, kind of 3 or 4 am, expect to hold the queue at the weekends.
