hi lufc, your profile says you are in "Vicalvaro", are you Spanish or a legal resident?

in your profile, the "The plane home" being your fave thing about Spain ( Eeker ) and your "still bloody here" tells me that you are from UK, no?

if so, you can get a blood analysis from your local "ambulatorio" (doctors office).

if not, you may try one of the private doctors, hospitals or clinics listed by Madrid Insider on his site HERE Cool

saludos and let us know where you end up going

What type of blood test? I got an AIDS test free from the city and I am not an EU citizen nor had any papers. It was super easy and very confidential. But, they only speak Spanish, and they are open from 8-12 only. You can also get your Hepatitis B shots too. All for FREE!

I was afraid you were going to ask that. I don't remember the EXACT location. It was near the Bilbao or San Bernardo Metro stop. It's public health, from the Ayutamiento de Madrid. I may still have the Hep B paper at home which I can look to see if the address is on there. I think they may have other locations, but this one is the most centrally located. My roommate told me it was where all the prostitutes went; which made me feel very "special." Hey at least they are getting tested! Wink

AHHH found it! I love the internet. I went to the one on Sandoval. They are very nice and gave me great results! Big Grin

It is very important that people get this test done. I am posting my personal experience because I feel there should not be a stigma against people having sex and geting tested for the AIDS epidemic. Like I said, the place is very confidential and you do not need to make an appointment. There usually is a long line, so bring a book or something to do.

Hang on you guys!!!!!!! lufc only asked where one could get a blood test done!!! Eeker Didnt say what for, and ya'll are presuming!!!! I have just had a load of blood tests done at a private clinic and they checked everything from liver function, kidneys, immune system, cholesterol, etc etc and it cost me the grand total of 80. Not much to pay to see that "one" is okay, hey!!! Smiler (And much to my surprise all is okay!!)

no reason to go to a private clinic sue, you are a resident in spain and have been here for many years.

no, not by u.s. standards anyway but as i said above, it should have been free for you at your local doctor.

Smiler Sorry! Yes indeedy! The social offered to take blood for each test I needed/wanted, but would have meant taking several different samples (just like UK). I am that scaredy cat that hates needles so opted to pay for it! Got it all over and done in one!!!!
