Hey Jer, my personal favorite station is the one on C/Huertas. They're friendly, cheerful and full of good advice particularly when you mistake their place for the lobby of your hotel.
Maybe could you give me a good, local phrase to use meaning, "Not to worry, it's just that things are a bit fuzzy about now".

"Fuzz" I know about...used to be one in Miami during my long and checkered career. Don't know the reason for "Fuzz", but "Copper" or "Cop" supposedly came from the habit of police "copping" free apples and such from fruit stands.
(Tomorrow I'll discuss the derivation of the term "French Leave").
But you are quite correct, on Fridays after 03:00 things often can be a bit "fuzzy".

Yep, Miguelito is right..... For cop we would use something like "madero", "pitufo" for Madrid local police, "pasma" for police in general....ummm something else ? :jeje:
Thanks for the great advice, Jer. Can hardly wait to try it in a few weeks. Is there perhaps a phrase about the Desk Sergeant's sister I can use, also?
Seriously, though....the last time I wandered in there the friendly gent behind the counter was slamming the action shut on his shotgun....it was then Toto and I knew we were no longer in Kansas.
Only conversation was something like, "Who are you?", to which I cleverly replied, "Jeremy Reines.....I live at (Jer's address here)"
