Here's a good article regarding Cell Phone Virises
- HERE - My Spanish isn't as good as others', but this may be a hoax.
A virus is an application (usually in the form of a document) and requires a CPU to activate it. The "virus" on the "infected" machine then spreads to other machines through network connections - the bottom line is: if you don't/can't lauch the virus application, you are safe from infection.
To my knowledge, you can't launch/activate a progam from or onto a cellphone... since no phones have this capability, they would be safe from viruses - also, because phones cannot forward files, documents, or applications, this sort of thing is not possible, and by definition, cannot be called a virus.
This means: no "infection", no forwarding, and no virus threat would/could exist.
The only exception I can think of, however, is the new "Smart Phone", which run Microsoft's PocketPC software -
HERE - This is technically a CPU and capable of launching programs... however, you'd still have the issue of transferring the "virus application" to other cellphones - highly unlikely, IMO.
Anyway, I hope this helps - For the moment, we're safe.
I'd be interested in hearing further info if I'm mistaken.
Thanks,
Lib
