Hi Tony, thanks to you & jer for the Jpg, I got it and printed it ready for the office next week. Be brave my friend, I know only too well what it is like to lose people that I have worked with for years, or have known socially, as well as family, and the reality of it hits hard, and the pain of the bereavement will be with you for a while, but it will fade in time, and so until then you must be strong, you must be stronger than you ever thought you could be, and put a brave face on each day, and try to carry on as close to normal as is possible, and I know some might say thats easy for me to say, but I can assure you that it is not, believe me, I have suffered, and still do to this day, even after some years, its not easy, but I have to get on with it, life must go on, we must put things behind us and move on, although we must never forget those who have lost theirs, or the thing that took their lives from them, even though we might forgive, in time, perhaps, but we will never forget. The situation in the world is grave indeed, and I fear that we have not yet experienced what might yet come about, and feel that there could still be more tragedy yet to come somewhere in this world, and I pray that is not going to be the case, but the world has seen far far worse than what we have seen recently, its been going on for a few thousand years now, the human race has been at war with itself, and its not over yet. If there are still enough good people left in the world, and I feel that there are still many of us, we can unite and stand up together against this evil that we have in the world, and crush it out of existence for all time, and make up for old and new. Now is not the time to weaken, we must be strong if we are to do battle with the forces of evil, and I strongly believe that there is a battle going on in this world between the powers of good and the forces of Evil, and that we are surrounded by those who have been consumed by evil, and possessed by demons, their minds having been manipulated by Satan himself, and it is he who is causing all this horror in the world, and god himself is relying on those of us who are good souls, to help him in the fight against this evil that is being perpetrated, but first you have to believe, you have to have faith, to trust him to guide & protect you, and eventually we will all be able to carry on as normal and not spend our lives living in fear of being attacked. We should not allow anything to make us live in fear, we should do whatever is necessary to put an end to this evil in the world, that is causing so much loss of life, pain & anguish to so many. Anyway, I dont want to lecture or preach on here, but Im sure that you will understand that my feelings on this subject are quite strong, but well meant. To all those who have suffered any loss, grieve you must, but now is the time to be strong & brave my friends. America, England and Espaa & the rest of the civilised world will come together now and unite & rise up against the forces of evil and whoever or whatever is responsible for all this grief in the world, and Together we will win. --------------------------- Victor Mordecai Go here and listen to parts 1 & 2 of the audio section, and hear all about the real Evil in this world, who the real demons are, who Satan is. --------------------------------------

Chico and I along with my inlaws went to the protests last night...and we were overwhelmed by the masses. We drove to Fuencarral and got on line 10 of the metro there... the beginning of the line....it was packed from the get-go. Rode it, like sardines, down to Alonso Martinez, only to hear that the exits to the street had been closed due to the number of people already in the area. So we continued on to the next stop only to discover that the exits were completely back logged. We got back on the train took it to Plaza de Espaa, and then rode the train back to Cuatro Caminos and walked from there to La Castellana... we stayed at the Plaza de Emilio Castelar, if any of you are familiar with the area....just south of Bernabeu/Nuevos Ministerios/Gregorio Maran. The streets were shoulder to shoulder human bodies. We couldnt move! It was definitely an emotional scene. Hope many of you were able to attend the demonstration as well.

quote: originally posted by Roland: [qb]
I'm sorry if you think I'm being political opportunistic at this time. It may be the anger and stress I've experienced in the last few days that may be making me lash out at those I feel responsible. I assure you though I'm not here to score political points. I live just down the street from Atocha and having regularly taken those trains, I cannot begin to tell you how hard it is for me now. I added that post because I saw people (especially Aznar) rushing to place the blame squarely on ETA without bothering to wait for proof. I may be rushing to place blame too quickly as well. But believe me this is not just "political opportunism". - Roland [/qb][/QUOTE] Apology accepted. If you wish to lash out at those responsible, you need look no further than those who planted the bombs. Just because you may not agree with the ruling party, doesn't mean that you can freely blame them for an action they did not perpetrate. "unidad, firmeza y serenidad"

I wish to clarify my intentions that made me post a rebuttal to Roland's political laced reply. 1. I feel very violated by the attacks (I have departed on many trips from Atocha at the same time of day with my young children and my wife.) 2. My political affiliation is my business and not a badge of honor on display. 3. I love Madrid and I love all Madrileos (yes, especially Roland). I will not reply anymore to this topic and I thank Roland for his sincere reply, I am sorry that you feel so badly, we do to

...my parents asked me to forward this We are in shock and with you in prayer and mourning for all those affected by the bombings. Roy and I are in Alaska visiting our youngest son Dan and family and are so glad that Paul called us as we were so busy visiting we did not even turn on the TV or go buy a newspaper (it's been -3 F. here). I am sure that TV cannot capture the sadness, grief, anger, and totality of this terrible disaster. To see the millions of people in Spain, come out with their umbrellas marching against those who planned the disaster is inspiring. God bless you and your beautiful nation, Claire and Roy

ena and i walked through sol, down carrera de san jernimo and into the plaza de canovas de catillo (neptune fountain). fro there the crowd moved smoothly but slowly down to atocha. when we got to atocha (about 1.5 hrs later), the emotion seemed more somehow than it was at other points along the march. it somehow seemed like the most solemn place on earth. saludos, jer...

Last Friday, I copied many of the messages here and sent them to the Spanish Consulates in the US, with the note that said: "These messages come to you from friends who love Spain, its culture, and its people." Here are the responses so far: Please accept our most sincere appreciation for your expression of support for my country, and for the families and friends of the victims of the heinous terrorist attack in Madrid. - Ramon Saenz de Heredia, Consul General of Spain, New OrleansThe Consulate General of Spain wishes to express its profound sorrow for the victims of the barbaric terrorist attack perpetrated today, March 11, 2004, in the capital of Spain, and declares its solidarity with the relatives of the victims. - Camilo Barcia Garca-Villamil, Cnsul General de Espaa, San FranciscoOn behalf of the People of Spain, and on behalf of the King Juan Carlos I and of our Government we would like you to know that we thank you deeply for this show of solidarity and friendship. - Francisco J. Viqueira, Consul General of Spain, ChicagoThe Consulate General of Spain in Houston wishes to thank all of you for the support and solidarity in this time of sorrow for our country. ( unsigned) While in hindsight I should probably have posted a message of my intent before collecting and sending the comments, I hope you all understand that I thought sending the message as soon as possible was so important that I made the decision based upon that.
