Geez, it took me 10 minutes to find the post new topic button Anyway, I digress.
WINTER FARE SALE!
In case you guys don't know already BestFares.com is having a winter fare sale (this has been the subject of many a post on the MadridMan message board). Since this is the "SPAIN" message board, I figured I'd let everyone know about the fares to Madrid (they have sales on fares to other major cities, too).
The rules are as follows:
-You must fly out of one of the 55 cities (listed below) -You must travel on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday (travel on other days add $25 each way to the ticket) -You must complete your travel by March 20 -You must stay over a Saturday night and purchase the ticket at least 14 days in advance -You are allowed to stay, at most, 30 days -There are no blackout dates -Prices do not include the processing fee or fuel surcharge
Now for the good part
$308rt or less-- Boston, Washington (DC), Hartford, Providence, New York City, Newark, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Bangor (ME), Portland (ME), Burlington (VT), Manchester (NH), Albany, Buffalo, Rochester (NY), Syracuse, Erie, Harrisburg, State College, Allentown, Newburgh, White Plains, Wilkes Barre/Scranton, Atlantic City, Charleston (WV)
$368rt or less-- Charlotte, Cleveland, Columbus (OH), Cincinnati, Dallas, Houston, Fort Lauderdale, New Orleans, Memphis, Orlando, Tampa, Raleigh, Atlanta, Greensboro, Norfolk, Richmond, Charleston (SC), Columbia (SC), Myrtle Beach, Savannah, Jacksonville, Fort Myers, West Palm Beach, Miami, Key West, Pensacola, Tallahassee, Panama City, Fort Walton Beach, Mobile, Montgomery, Nashville, Birmingham, Knoxville, Greenville/Spartanburg, Shreveport, Little Rock, Akron, Toledo, Dayton, Saginaw, Lansing, Detroit, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Louisville, Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, South Bend, Madison and Cedar Rapids
$388rt or less-- Los Angeles, San Diego, Orange County, San Francosco, Phoenix and Las Vegas
Now, before you go purchasing the fare, you must become a member. The fee to do so is $60 USD ($80 CAN). In my opinion, it is worth that fee twenty times over. I CANNOT FIND ANY LOWER PRICES ON TICKETS! These fares beat all of the ones I found by searching through all of the major sites AND using the software application to search!!!
SUMMER FARE SALE!
Same deal as above, except the price. No advance purchase and no maximum/minimum stay.
Depart March 20-May 31 and the prices start at $379rt.
Depart June 1-August 31 and the prices start at $479rt.
Can't get the list of cities, so if you want to know, check the website or let me know. The price goes up the further west you go. You can get an idea from the list above.
Holy Cow! You NEVER see Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo on deals like this. I'm trying very hard not to let my yearnings exceed my earnings, however. I will certainly pass this info on to others.
Pack light, sleep cheap, eat well.

My favorite agency for North America - Europe travel is Air Tech ( www.airtech.com )... They consistently have good deals on reserved tickets, but best of all are their "space available" seats. They will get you out to Europe (for $169 from NYC, $199 from mid-US and $249 from the west coast) with a one way ticket that you can use NEARLY as conveniently as with a reserved ticket. A few good reasons why it's a good deal, especially for those who may want to stay indefinately: 1) They never expire 2) You don't have to fly in and out of the same airport (or country!) 3) They're EASY to use.
To use the space-available deely, you just give them an approximate time window that you want to fly. Then, 3 or 4 days before your target date, call them and ask the situation on flights. This will soon be available online, but for now, they might say something like, "Well, Tuesday we have a flight at 8am with 27 seats available. On Wednesday, though, we have a flight at 9pm with 75 free seats"
Then, you can decide which is more important: to get there on Tuesday by hook or by crook, or to take the safer bet and go on Wednesday...That way, you're not sleeping in the airport waiting for a flight you may or may not get on...
I use these guys every time I fly, and they're FANTASTIC...
I'm just trying to help....I have no connection to Airtech other than that I use them a LOT and love to recommend the good deals to my wandering family....
But if you're listening, Airtech...Feel free to mail me a check for all the nice PR I'm givin ya.jejejejejeje

Hey Beeeeeeeeeeeel, sounds like you may be getting a commission from them there airtech.com folk the way you are talking them up and all.
Hmmmmmm... as the ever so busy multimadrid webweaver, I will ask you if they also offer tickets one way from Europe (Spain for example) to the U.S.A. and then back to Europe? I ask because the great deals on flights seem to be only available stateside
Jejeje...Soy Beel..O "Guille" as my girlie likes to call me.....
So, in answer to your question, Jer...YES! It's possible to fly from Europe to the US on the same kind of ticket...And you don't need to call New York to check on flights because they've an office in London, as well.... Usually, in the spring and summer, they will have most major western European cities available, including Madrid and Malaga. Right now, though, they're only offering Malaga, but Madrid should be back up in the spring...Last year I flew Madrid to JFK on Air Europa with them...
The other question was about airlines...Well, they don't tell you which airlines they work with, because of the deal they have worked out with them, but I have flown KLM and Air Pakistan to Amsterdam, Alitalia to Milano, Air Europa and Iberia to/from Spain, and Lufthansa to Frankfurt....
BTW, Air Pakistan was the best of ALL! LOADS of legroom, great planes, GREAT food (where else you gwine get Chicken Curry?), great service, totally on-time and a feather-soft landing...The best part was hearing "Insh'Allah" before anything the captain said we were doing...i.e. "This is your captain speaking. Insh'Allah, now we will land"...hhahahaha
Jer, I just gotta say...When I get back to ol Madrid, you got yourself a mini of mojito on me, tio....

Hey Chupacabra buddy, hurry back to Madrid and I will take you up on that Mojito invite
Thanks for the info on the flights from Spain to U.S.A. as well.
Cool, Chicken Curry beats the "H.E.double toothpicks" out of the dryer than chalk scone that they give you on British Airways (for those of you who don't know what a scone is, don't bother, it is not worth knowing).
