Hello,

For those of you looking for a cheap flight to Madrid, my sister just picked one up on Orbitz.com. The total cost of the flight was $109.90 roundtrip from LAX to MAD through British Airways. She is flying out on a Wednesday and coming back the next Tuesday. This ticket is for the third weekend in Febuary. I don't know if this is the only weekend or what the special is, but if you can take advantage this offer you should!

What Eeker !! Youve got to be kidding me! Is that price possible? Thats the price for the specials between San Fran and Seattle! I didnt think you could get from the W. coast to Madrid for much less than $500! In fact, I went on Orbitz as well as BA and couldnt find Feb. flights for under $550.

Kimberly, was it really $110 Confused ??

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably isn't.
Mind you, I have booked a flight using the Internet where clearly the computer was showing the wrong fare - it was far too cheap - in my view. So as soon as I booked it I was wondering whether the booking agency would contact me and ask me to pay the correct fare. (To which the answer would have been - "Get stuffed" )

But I used the cheap ticket and I must have been the luckiest person on board that flight.

There are some incredible deals during Jan/Feb/March. I have just booked a flight to Madrid from London and paid 20 - ( Euros 30 ) on Easyjet mid week from London Gatwick. I could also book the same fare return at this time but can't decide when !

To all of those who can find those fares, please take advantage of them. I live in Richmond, VA and it's VERY HARD finding a cheap ticket to Madrid.

I have to go to DC to get a cheap flight and nothing like being inconvenienced.

The cheapest ticket that I have found is $542.00 without taxes.

You can get fares cheaper than $500. to Spain, but it all depends on how far in advance you get them, or how VERY LAST minute you get them! Also a lot has to do with the month and the dates to get it.

I checked out orbitz... but couldn't find it, so I wonder how her sister found it. Especially from the west coast, it does seem EXTREMELY cheap!

Nige, yes, from the UK, you get rock bottom prices, but the unfortunates coming from the US, NO WAY are we going to see a $30 ticket! I WISH!

Every once in a while, Internet sites such as Orbitz, Expedia, and Travelocity publish fares by mistake. They only last as long as the mistake remains undiscovered. But they have to honor the fares if you happen to catch them. A while back, United (I think that was the airline) had fares to just about anywhere for $5 round trip on one of those sites. They had to honor them.

My parents got a mistake fare recently for July 2003 round trip to London from Chicago for around $450 including taxes, which is unheard of that time of year. That's why it pays to visit these sites often in hopes of catching one of these. That may have been how Mach5 got this incredible fare and now no one else can find it.

Remember, you can't see everything in one trip. Assume you will return. (Rick Steves)

It was really $110 and we couldn't believe it when we saw it on the computer. We booked it right away and recieved our confirmation. I have heard about people getting lucky and finding a fare like this, but it never had happened to me. We bought two tickets and the airline better honor them if it was a mistake!! Big Grin

Espe3,

NO SUCH LUCK FINIDNG A CHEAP TICKET FROM RICHMOND. Frowner

We are quoted to be one of the most expensive airports on the East Cost to leave from. That's why a ticket as I have quoted in my last entry is a steal. All of the websites that you have listed don't do jack for me when leaving from Richmond. And just so you know, no matter how far in advance you book your ticket leaving from Richmond, it will still be expensive. Razzer

That's why I applaud people who live in big sites and can actually find deals.

Yes folks it was true and 3 of us are off ot Madrid from Seattle in March. Apparently, there was a computer glitch for a few hours... someone will be unemployed soon.
A friend called us and told us, they booked a flight to Amsterdam and another couple to Rome for next month at less than $100.00 return, which was mostly tax. And to top it off, they are traveller plus seats ( I ckecked later and this fare was $2040.00) , which is between economy and business class for service.Or tickets were booked and confirmed.

Bon Voyage!

Dang! I didn't find any $100 tickets, but I did find one for $398 RT from Seattle!! Geez, now I am in that quandry again.....do I buy a new washing machine, or back to Spain in March????

PS...I think we should have an email group set up so that when someone finds that $100 fare again we can all be notified ASAP!!!! (for a $100 dollar ticket I would go to Spain and get the washer with only 3 settings for $298! Ha!)

TonyG, my advice, go back to Spain! you can have your old machine repaired, or buy a used one. I had to decide last year whether to get a new car or use my old one for another two years, am still using my old car and reliving lots of happy memories!
Wink
Espe3, I live near Jacksonville, but I always fly out of Orlando on international flights, because there are more opportunities for a less expensive flight there. Plus, if you need to change a flight there are more flights in/out of Orlando. Although it is HELL to drive there, I'd much prefer to drive to JAX.

Last December we flew out of Orlando for under $900 for two tickets including tax, I bought the tickets in August 2001 though!

Hey Nige! If you're capable of doing that regularly, you should set up a travel service! Seriously!! That's an insane price... My wife and I can always find decent prices, but nothing in the vicinity of what's being discussed here!

This thread has me entertaining thoughts of looking into a way to make it back to KC for Christmas for the first time since 1996! It's fun to dream about it at least... Smiler
