Well, I just did a search and the prices are beginning to come down for December. Three months ago the rates were aroung $900, now I can fly British Airways for $689. I am sure that in late August they will be down to my expectations, around $500 give or take $50. Anyway, I can only hope! Smiler

Booklady-
I noticed that too! Smiler Just got my fare watcher update! I expect them to if not continue to lower (I'm sure they will) but also more airlines offering similiar fares (so far only a couple do and it means a stopover and backtracking (alitalia, KLM, etc.)

I just noticed this fare on Travelocity:

Minneapolis/St. Paul to Madrid $315 round trip (including taxes!). The fare is available from Nov.-Mar. (except the two weeks around Christmas). A lot of the dates are already sold out, but I did notice some that were still available.

Oh yeah. I should also mention this is on Continental.

Okay, if you're under the age of 26 or if you're a student, then you can get really cheap tickets from The Adventure Travel Company . It's definitely legit! It's a good company especially if you're buying your tickets at the last minute.

I just purchased my ONE WAY ticket for September 19! Smiler WOO HOO!

And I'm posting this here because I did it through a company called side step (that's actually the program- I forgot where I downloaded it from but not to worry! You can call them also: 1-800-886-4988. I tried the AESU mentioned earlier and called to check if the price they posted included taxes or not, and it didn't so the fare would have been approx $100 more than what it quotes on-line. Through Side-step (go to Airfare.com) the price I was quoted included taxes and was lower than the AESU price.

Just FYI if anyone is looking! Smiler I'm ON MY WAY! Let the countdown begin! Smiler Big Grin

joquecalor,

Thanks for the information, but I am giving this a THUMBS DOWN, only because I've seen deals like this before for Richmond, VA and it is a complete lie.

Whenever I call the airlines and get the ACTUAL price, it is always more that what's quoted. I mean HUNDREDS of dollars more. Which means that once again, leaving from Richmond, VA is very expensive.

Redwood-
I'd make an exception- on these things you have to jump fast and the dates offered book quickly- considering its directly THROUGH US airways... and keep in mind that its an internet special- to get the prices YOU HAVE TO BOOK THROUGH THE INTERNET my airline does this too- they're trying to push people to use the net more.

Sorry you had a bad experience with previous 'deals' you heard of- its hard to get deals ( I used to live in one of the other cities listed and it always cost a bundle) but on occasion they give those of us who live in the larger, but non gateway cities and VOILA! Smiler

If anyone is looking to go- don't waste time, buy it! Or don't cry about the high price later! Wink

Iberia.com prices for flights to Spain during these dates are about 500$. Traveling in November they'er about 300 and change. I prefer going direct rather than LaGuardia to Philly then wait and go to Madrid. The extra 100$ for the direct flight and less hassled 'experience' may be worth it IMO.
