It turns out you can actually buy copies of the
railway map of Spain which is hanging outside the booking office in Chamartin station, even though Renfe says you cant (and they published it!).

I got one yesterday from the Fundacion de Ferrocarriles Espanoles at C/Santa Isabel 44 for
6 euros (and BTW it isnt in their catalogue).

For those whove not seen one, it also shows all protected areas (i.e. national parks and the like) and routes thereto by train, proposed cycle routes along old railways, etc and theres basic coverage of Portugal too. I think its very attractive. Stephen

Would love one of those wall maps.
In case of interest, as many already know, there are 5 regional maps of the Rail network in Spain on: http://www.renfe.es/ingles/empresa/regionales/index.html
I know because I found them very useful.

They also do the maps in a cardboard tube for 13 euros, postage would be extra (I see youre in Cadiz). Its called

"Mapa ferroviario y de espacios naturales"

Map size: 120 x 100 cm, date May 2000
Website: www.ffe.es
though as I say the map isnt in their catalog.
The relevant department is Direccion de Estudios y Programas.
