Finely though the nightmare of getting my car on Spanish plates when I got the next shock. Car insurance, quick call to línea directa quote 1000 a year, way more than I was paying in Germany. Talked to several people who said they are paying the same. Did some shopping around and got a quote for 489 from Hamilton Insure

update, stopped in at townhall and I simply need to go to traffico in Madrid and present my DL and pay 10 euros. I guess it has to do with when the car got inpounded.
Better than a massive fine but still a pain in the butt!
