Hi Mad-Sue, jer here. I am looking for a flight to London to see my brother, his wife and my brand new nephew (click here to see his website designed by uncle jeremy himself) and it is not looking good due to this strike "basura" (garbage). I was thinking of going next week and it may cost me more now. You read correctly, it is the big topic here these days and personally I think it is crap! In the last 20 years, the pilots of Iberia have struck 17 times . I'm not saying they don't have this right but they work an average of 160 days a year and the average pilot earns a salary of 24,000,000 pesetas anually. This is about $150,000 USD and considering the average Spaniard earns less than one tenth of that, it is assenine that they complain. Of course they also always strike during the big travel months (summer and Semana Santa). It is estimated that Iberia lost over 8 million U.S. dollars today during the first day of striking, ouch! This has got to stop. jer...

Hi, Jer, I don't blame you for wanting to go and see your little nephew, he's a lovely baby! Shame about your flight situation, I took a look on the web at different airlines and some of them want ridiculous fares. The only one I came up with is Easyjet to Luton. Don't know where in London you will be going, but you could hire a car from Luton at 9 per day for a basic model. If you were going from here, Heathrow, to Madrid BA have an offer of 100 return but no offers going the opposite way. Hope you can manage the trip soon and join in the celebrations I'm sure are still taking place since the birth.Regards Sue.
I love spain

If you can't laught about air travel what good is it, that's what I always say. Actually, Iberia is pretty normalized and the striking is set for a few specific days so i am not worried. In fact, I just found some decently priced tickets on their website (www.iberia.com) so the trip to see my bouncing baby nephew should be ok. Hi Mad-Sue, thanks for the comments bout my nephew, as my brother says, the "celbration" will last for the next 18 years until he is off to college jer...
