I am about to fly to Barcelona (yay!) and must take the train to Alicante to meet my friend.

Has anyone done this? Any advice? Is it easy to even find the train from the BCN airport? My spanish is developing, but not all that great, so I am a little nervous that I have to rely on it to get around.
Ah, life is such a grand adventure. Big Grin

Try this link for Barcelona airport to Barcelona Sants train station. Looks like they leave every half hour and take 19 minutes

Try this link for
RENFE Barcelona to Alicante Terminal. Looks like they leave every few hours and take 4-5 hours.

Good luck and have fun Big Grin

Mermaid if this question is about visiting your friend in Moraira then I would make sure that Alicante is the best place to meet. The trip suggested already after getting into Barcelona is Barcelona - Alicante (4.5 hours at 41Euros) which is then 75km to Moraira by car. If you are unsure then I would suggest two alternatives.

Alternative 1: Barcelona - Valencia (E. Nord) is 3.5 hours or less (29 Euros) and is then 110km to Moraira by car.

Alternative 2: Valencia (E. Nord) - Gandia is about 50 minutes (3.5 Euros by Cercanias). Add option 1 and 2 you have 4.5 hours (32.5 Euros) with 45km to Moraira by car.

If your friend does not mind driving then option 1 would be best (shortest overall time travelling). If driving (or time) is a problem then option 2 is better. Either will get you to Moraira quicker than the Alicante route. You actually go past Moraira and come back on yourself by going to Alicante. Also, there is a lot more to see in Valencia. The station itself is a work of art.

I was in Moraira last weekend and spent Sunday afternoon on the beach. It was a nice 25 degrees with clear blue skies, perfect to relax and remember why Spain is so great Big Grin . Have a great trip.

Cheers,

Ian

You people rock! Cool Thanks for once again, supplying me with the exact information that I needed.
You are correct, Ian, it's Valencia, not Alicante that I need to go to.

Moraira, here I come! Big Grin
