Just wondering if anyone has done the long term parking. Checked out the prices and after about a week it gets quite expensive. Over 7 days it's actually cheaper to take a taxi.

We debating going by refene metro as the connections are good but we've got alot of awkward stuff this time which makes it difficult to the airport.

thanks

It's the same problem in the UK, it's just tooooo bloody expensive to park anywhere near any of the Airports anymore, the short term parking is just about £5 per hour, and the long term is not that much better, and works out to be not really worth it, unless you're seriously desperate to park and get on a plain or lose the flight!!

In my opinion, it would be infinitely cheaper to just hire a small VAN from one of the various van rental companies, and leave it for them to go & collect in the Airport when you've finished off loading your gear.

Most of the rental firms have got a desk somewhere in the main building/Terminal, and all you have to do is take your paperwork & the keys back to them there & hand them over, then they send out a guy to fetch the van back to their depot.

I'm pretty sure that what ever the van cost's, it can only be cheaper than any kind of Taxi, and as you say, you've got some difficult gear to deal with, so a van would make sense.

For example, In the UK, easy Jet provide vans into London, for people with a lot of gear, awkward stuff or not, or for people who have just got too many cases for a normal Taxi, and as you know, Taxis use a clocking machine, for time & mileage, and if you get into traffic it soon goes right up, so a van is without doubt going to be cheaper.

Of course I'm not advertising for anybody here, as there are plenty to choose from, some cheaper some more expensive, and of course they will deliver the van right to your front door.

Don't even think about the train if you've got a lot of awkward stuff, it would be a nightmare!!

Hope that helps.

Saludos.

I think it's a Europe wide phenomenon, parking is crazyly expensive at any airport. I remember parking at Stutgart Airport years ago for the weekend and getting a 180 DM (about for 90 euros) for the weekend!!!!

Finding long term cheap parking just isnt' an option. I've got a freind that has offered to drive us so may go that route.

this is normal.

airports are BIG BUSINESS and they need to make a LOT of money on EVERYTHING they do in order to stay operational, from selling a pack of gum to parking.

interestingly enough, i just booked a tick for my mom to come see us from nyc and the site i booked through (orbitz.com) offered me the chance to buy her 8 days of airport parking at jfk for $160 which, while we do not need it, i thought was pretty reasonable ($20 a day in nyc).

saludos,
