Hi,

I am doing some freelance video work and I need to send a minidv tape to a company in New York. I live in Lavapies....Is there a FedEx around here? I will be sending the tape tomorrow afternoon and it has to be in New York on Friday. What are my options?

All suggestions are welcome.

Thanks!

Phil

hey Phil.

fed-ex in madrid phone number is 91 748 1727. i use them but only to send stuff to one client in u.s.a. and i always charge it to his account as i do not have one with fed-ex. it is my experience with fed-ex that you just call them and they come pick up the package but you have to give them a window of opp. (say 2 hrs.).

the only dropoff they have is at the airport in the cargo area - see http://www.fedex.com/es.
from their website, looks like you will spend 45.40 euros to send up to half a kilo to u.s.a.
when you try to do some things on their site it asks for a username and password so not sure if you need to register with them to use their services.

personally, i use "seur" (http://www.seur.es), biggest spanish courier, for all of my packages. according to my price list, a mini dv tape would cost you 35.64 euros as it weighs in under 250 grams and would take 1-2 days to arrive. if you sent it tomorrow tues., it would be there either wed. or thurs. the suer international site is at http://www.seurinternacional.com. english version is at http://www.seurinternacional.com/ingles/index.html . you can go to the one at plaza españa 18, just next door to the torre de madrid and hand the package over. you will need to go to the office before 6pm as that is the cutoff for international packages. they will weigh it and give you a price accordingly. you will also need to include the "ALBARÁN y Factura Proforma" (shipping slip which they provide and pro-forma invoice), this goes for any of the couriers you decide to use.

their website says there is a seur office at ronda de toledo 38 (MAP) may be better for you than the one in pza. esp. you can go to http://www.seur.es , click on "Puntos de Venta" and look for more offices.

you can also call them on 902101010 and they will come get the package but with seur you need to tell them to come either in the morning (10am - 2pm) or 5 - 9pm, a much larger window than fed-ex. you need no account with them to send, just go in and pay cash.

there is also "mrw" (http://www.mrw.es). i have an account with them too but i have never used them for international mailings, i only use them within spain. i do not know what they charge for intnl.

saludos,
jer...

DHL and TNT also have international mailing services.
DHL has a web site, http://www.dhl.es and their phone number is 902.122.424. I know they can do two day delivery to the US. Don't know if they have offices but they can go and pick it up at your home or office. Not too sure about their prices but I'm sure it's similar to most services that provide the same.
TNT also has web site, http://www.tnt-spain.com and their phone is 902.111.868.
At our offices we use DHL for mailing to the US, their services have been pretty good.

hey Phil.

let us know how it goes...
