I am pretty sure that most places here will charge an arm and a leg for the automatic rental  I think all rental agencies offer them but as you said, they are very expensive. If you have not already done so, try the American chains, they may be more understanding and therefore reasonably priced (Hertz, Avis, etc...). Have you looked into www.easycar.com (the easyJet rental car service)? They have a Mercedes A class SUV ("Sports Utility Vehicle" or "Sucky Ugly Vehicle", whichever you prefer  )...  ... that is very well priced for rental and available in Madrid. I did a search for a 4 day rental on this car from May 5th to the 8th and came out with a totalof 61 Euros (a bit over 15 per day). That is before insurance and extra milage charges if there are any. Not sure if this price is for an automatic or a standard but I am sure they have both available, may want to drop them a mail. Saludos, jer...

check also <holiday autos>. they offer automatic cars (peugot 306, nissan primera) starting from �429/week (including everything you can imagine  ). two stations (rental partners) are also in seville, and many in madrid. maybe not cheap as easycar, but it's a look worth. hth greetings from vienna, a n d r e a s |

Hi Andreas, thanks for that link. The site looks good but there is no "United States" on the "select your country of residence" list, I guess to get the site in English you need to choose either "Ireland" "South Africa" or the "UK" option. I did a search for a rental in out of Madrid's Atocha station and while, as Andreas said, it is more expensive than EasyCar, it looks like they have quite a bit to offer. Saludos, jer...

. are there any rental agencies that have smaller automatic cars that aren't 3 times the price of a standard? we might want to rent a car for a day or two, but not if the price is outrageous. (suggestions to learn to drive a stick are not necessary ) thanks.
