As I waited at the airport this morning for my client, there was a woman standing about 4 feet to the right of me SMOKING while the nearest "smoking point" was another 50 feet to the right of her. Her smoke was all over me so I waved my client reception sign in her face. She did not say anything but just kept on talking to the guy she was with. So, as her smoke came towards me again, I waved my sign in her face frantically and the smoke went back to her. She then looked at me and without saying a word, she and her friend moved about 30 feet away from me but still did not go to the "smoking point". She shot me a nasty glare to which I did not respond. I think she got the point.
I would love to go to the airport one day with a clipbaord and paper and approach the smokers smoking out of the designated areas why they fell compelled to ignore the new regulation. I would love to hear the responses.

He, He, Mr Jobsworth! Can I follow you with the video camera?
Mr Jobsworth, I believe was coined after a TV programme in the UK.
Mr Jobsworth will be a minor employee who takes great pride in his rather piddley little job, and should anyone try to bend the rules will shake his head and say something like "oh no, we cant be doing that, its more than my jobs worth!"

Going off at a slight tangent (apologies!) but in my opinion this thread highlights why this site is so good. Loads of different opinions (yes, I am smoking, drinking wine and typing simultaneously) but no-one insulting or ranting at anyone. (I have given up with a few forums because of this) Anyway, Jer - I promise I won't give you a dirty look if you ever wave your clipboard at me in Barajas - and Madsue - I'll look you up if I ever make it to Lanzarote.

Jer, you'll be pleased? to know that I enjoyed a much needed cigarette (after a thirteen hour flight) at one of the designated smoking points in Barajas just a few hours ago.
