Quote:: “I know you want to help but did you not know about that connection from the airport at Luton to the specific rail station called Luton Airport Parkway Station which is about a 5 minute shuttle?”
Are you kidding!!! Have you ever tried it out for yourself? Yes I know about the parkway link, but didn’t bother to mention it, as it’s a waste of time & extra effort, and the train is boring, slow, and costs more, unreliable and very often over crowded, so like I said, forget about it, she wants quick, easy & cheap, and the 757 is right there on the doorstep, like I said, no extra queuing up to do, or schlepping around, shuttle shmuttle, it gets packed, like the one at Gatwick often does, with people pushing an absolute TON of luggage, pulling at hysterical & out of control kids.
Quote:: And having coffee seeing the sights of Baker Street is not really an option if Jarbacky's flight arrives at 10.30 PM. !
Well, being a resident of the area of Baker street, and having grown up all around this area, I have seen & know just about every thing about it over the last 46.5 years, and I can assure you, that, just as with Madrid & Barcelona, around here you can eat & drink until way past 10.30, Pubs, clubs, Restaurantes, fast food joints all over the place, it’s called the “WEST END” you know, all she has to do is walk for 10 mins down the road, to Edgware road or Oxford street, and it is lined on both sides, all the way down to Marble Arch, with all kinds of shops, supermarkets, Restaurantes, Coffee shops, you name it, I live just on the Edgware road, 5 mins walk from Marble arch, right next door to one of the Stations which was bombed in July, while I was just walking into it, but that’s another thread so I’ll move on.
I know I referred to the 757 Luton Airport Express Bus as an Airbus, Force of habit I guess, I got so used to asking for the Airbus or aerobus in Spain, that it has become a habit to call them that.
Jar, you would love & adore Zaragoza, in the spring and/or the autumn, “es absolutamente alucinante” I couldn’t recommend you strongly enough, to visit this particular city, as you haven’t already done so before, it is much, much easier to get to nowadays, with the completion of the brand new rail terminal called Delicias, which is huge & extremely functional, although not too pretty, but very efficient, and the Talgo’s go from Madrid’s La Atocha direct to Zaragoza – Delicias in the time it takes you to get comfortable in your seat, and the AVE will get you there in the time it takes you to eat a Bocadillo & drink your coffee, so no problems with getting there, it’s about 300+ Kilometros from Madrid, and about the same distance from Barcelona. I could recommend one particular Pension, which I have used, it’s quiet, clean, 20.00 euros per night, shower, hand basin, 24 hour hot water, color TV, decent bed, good size room, located 5 mins from Plaza de España, a very cool place, and the owner is a real gentleman, who speaks fluent English. If you want the details, let me know, and I’ll send them over, unless Jer wants me to put them on here. There is a thread on Zaragoza somewhere, why not fish it out sometime and have a read, it really is a charming city.
As for my love of El flamenco, that is something which is everywhere in Spain, it’s thriving almost as much up in the north as it is down south, and with fnac & el corte Ingles both being there & full of flamenco CD’s, and of course the various flamenco websites, I won’t be without my wonderful flamenco music to help keep me sane, but I don’t only like flamenco, but all kinds of other Spanish music too, I’ve got lots of other artist’s in my collection, which brings me very nicely around to mentioning one artist from Barcelona who I have been planning a post for, called Miguel Poveda, a brilliant flamenco singer, who actually sings in Catalan, (which I am no fan of) as well as Castellano, but this is different, it's unique, and fantastic to hear, and so I’ll set about preparing that ready for posting sometime next week, I can’t do it right now I’m exhausted from my clients this week, it has been sheer hell in my office, and I’m feeling quite mind frelled at the moment, so watch this space.
Ciao for now...
